Got a link? I've been browsing that page but haven't found any news item featuring Capital Iron. I did expect there would be quite a hue and cry over this news, with the usual "Condos! Densification! Too much like Vancouver!" alarms.

Was going to ask the same; I couldn't find anything on that group re: this news item. I'm on that group frequently and don't mind at all rattling a few chains with some choice comments of my own.

Maybe deleted? I saw it earlier this evening.

Matt.

ETA what I saw was probably on the Vic BC Today or whatever it’s called page and was a link to the TC article.

Of course I don’t see the link on the page anymore.

Matt.

Yeah, it looks like the mods pulled that thread rather early on.

It was probably going to be another of those toxic pro-/anti-development discussions if it wasn't already.

Every time I go into Capital Iron it seems busy. Hope it stays for a long time :)

Fantastic news, glad to hear it is Reliance and they plan to retain the heritage structures.  Their track records suggests any new infill buildings will fit in seamlessly and provide an interesting and diverse neighbourhood.  Congrats!

this is great news. capital iron may or may not be part of the final plans but it’s good that reliance will steer this ship. now let’s see how badly council handles it.

Oh great you've thrown down the gauntlet. Council will have no choice but to **** this up now. Northern Junk will seem like a cakewalk in comparison.

Think of the possibilities, council could insist that Reliance turn the parking lot into a tent city, a car free market, or a circular bike path to nowhere!

And sacrifice all of that open space? That's an old-growth parking lot.

Does the Capital Iron property extend all the way along the west side of Store Street from Chatham to Discovery?

It's not in the version posted to the website, so you didn't miss it there. I saw it in the online edition of the paper.

This is Chris Le Fevre’s domain. I’m sure that competition for this land was something else.
