Walked by many times last week.

The Michigan street facing brick clad units appear less than inspiring considering the $1K+ per square foot cost.

The brick itself is fine, but the white panels and dark window frames lack cohesion.

What are they building in front of the parliament buildings?

The east condo building here (between the west building and the townhouses) is taking shape.

Going to be a hard sell until nearby BHP is resolved...if ever.

They’re not letting 24 hour camping in BHP end of month. Regardless of the issues it probably won’t slow sales on this project at all. This project is a gem.

The culmination of six years of construction at the multi-phase Capital Park community is imminent as developers Concert and Jawl Properties target late summer occupancy of the project’s condominium component.

I gotta say, I like the public viewing platform on top of the coffee shop. It seems like one of those things modern Victoria should be doing like crazy but avoids doing like the plague. But I guess there was a Victoria-style compromise here, since the platform is so close to the ground you can't see very much (not even the dome of the leg. building). Methinks this same kind of "conservative" viewing platform with a cafe at sidewalk level would be perfect along Wharf Street right across from the Harbour Square complex (with the cafe at street level and the platform on top). Or at Clover Point.

Anyway, the walkways and the water features and the heritage houses all come together well. Great place to stroll with little kids or the dog (or both, or even with little dogs). I think my main beef with this development might actually be the mostly covered-over windows on the supermarket. Victoria has recently gone absolutely bananas with partially or fully covered-over windows on ground levels.

I wish the ground level was more vibrant on all the street facing sides of this project. I am not a fan of street level offices.

My main reason for doing a walkabout was to scrutinize the old drill hall building on the legislature property. Conclusion: this plan to wipe it out is yet another textbook example of forked-tongue lip service toward Victoria's heritage and history. What a fraud all of this supposed sensitivity is. Just more insincere BS politics. Fake, fake, fake.

And I should add, I don't feel any better about this now familiar game when something is put on the chopping block in order to generate outrage but then the decision is "reconsidered" later. It's all political and fake.
