The Seattle Seahawks and Lumen Field announced today plans to modernize the stadium's concessions experience with a new store powered by Amazon's Just Walk Out technology for checkout-free shopping and Amazon One for entry and payment with palm recognition. Lumen Field will become the first NFL stadium to implement both technologies in a single store, District Market. Amazon's technologies are designed to offer fans a frictionless shopping experience as they grab food and drinks to get them back to the game faster by eliminating checkout lines.

In collaboration with Lumen Field's hospitality partner, Levy, and DBK Studio, Levy's innovation studio, Lumen Field's store equipped with Amazon's technologies is scheduled to open in time for the 2022 Seahawks regular season.

"We are continually looking at new ways to innovate and modernize our fan experience, and we know fans will love the fast, convenient experience the Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One-enabled store will deliver," said Zach Hensley, Seahawks Vice President of Operations and General Manager, Lumen Field. "We are proud to bring this technology to our fans so they can spend more time enjoying the game."

"We're excited to partner with the Seahawks and Lumen Field to bring Seattle fans an incredibly fast and convenient new way to enjoy their favorite food and beverage," said Sandeep Satish, Managing Director of DBK Studio and Vice President of Strategy & Analytics for Levy at E15 Group. "Checkout-free experiences, like District Market, have taken off in a very short amount of time because they give fans unprecedented control and enable them to spend so much more time enjoying the event. We look forward to continuously growing these truly frictionless experiences."

The stadium's Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One-enabled store will be located on the upper concourse in an upgraded area of section 323. District Market will offer a selection of assorted beer, wine, seltzers, and non-alcoholic beverages, along with gameday snacks and cuisine from the stadium's community neighbors in Seattle's International District. Fans purchasing alcohol will be required to show their ID to a store attendant for age verification.

Rihanna will take centre stage at February's Super Bowl halftime show.

The singer, who declined to perform in the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show out of solidarity with quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick, will headline the 2023 Super Bowl, the NFL announced Sunday along with Jay-Z's Roc Nation and Apple Music. Rihanna posted an image on Instagram of an arm outstretched holding an NFL football.

A grim scene in tonight's Bengals - Bills NFL game when Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin made a tackle on a Bengal receiver then instantly collapsed onto the field. Medical personnel from both sidelines ran out to him as the player was clearly in major distress and immediately administered CPR. He has since been transported to the major cardiac unit at the U of C medical center in critical condition. Naturally the game has been cancelled and postponed to a later date. Not something I ever want to see again on live TV.

Yes, he got up after the tackle and then collapsed less than a second later.

Luckily the official saw the seriousness right away and called in medical teams.

Already late next day and nobody has indicated any positive signs of recovery.

I think he might be not long of this world, unfortunately.

I feel any positive news - even if minor - would have been reported.

It's not great news, still positive...

Damar Hamlin's recovery is moving in "a positive direction" two days after the Buffalo Bills safety collapsed and went into cardiac arrest during a game against Cincinnati, the player's marketing representative said Wednesday.

"We all remain optimistic," Jordon Rooney, a family spokesperson who described himself as a good friend of the player, told The Associated Press by phone. He said he was unable to go into further detail on Hamlin's status at the request of his family not to provide specifics.

The Bills said Wednesday that Hamlin remained hospitalized in critical condition but displayed signs of improvement on Tuesday and overnight. They said he was expected to remain in intensive care as his medical team continued to monitor and treat him.

He’s still alive, that’s great. But it might be only because he’s on machines.

You’d hope for more concrete positive news by now.

Yes. Although you can’t be both ventilated and free from some level of sedation. We shall see.

Hoping for a full recovery.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has shown what physicians treating him are calling "remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours," the team announced Thursday, three days after the player went into cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the field.

Dr. Timothy Pritts said in a conference call at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center that neurological signs of improvement began Wednesday night as Hamlin gradually woke up, with the rest of his body healing. Hamlin was able to communicate by writing; he cannot speak because of a breathing tube in his throat.

"Last night he was able to emerge and follow commands and even asked who had won the game," Pritts said.

The game was suspended after Hamlin collapsed and it hasn't been determined if or when it will resume.

"The answer is yes, Damar, you won the game of life," Pritts said.

Way to confuse type guy.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow became the highest-paid player in the NFL on Thursday, agreeing to a five-year, $275 million US contract extension, according to a person familiar with the deal.

The contract includes more than $219 million guaranteed, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because it hadn't been announced.

The deal, which will pay Burrow an average of $55 million a year, puts him ahead of other top quarterbacks in the league who signed new contracts in the off-season.
