It's NOT a Christmas Tree, it's a tree with lights in Centennial Square.

Is a Christmas Bush still OK?

Took a little Christmas Light drive through Esquimalt tonight and saw some great houses all lit up. One guy up by Work Point even has a video of a fireplace projecting onto this front window and another video projection to a top window of the house playing a film of Santa with his sack of toys. Best effect I've seen yet. And some people instead of putting up lights just have one of those light projectors projecting little multi colored lights over the entire front of their house. Esquimalt has some of the best Christmas Light houses in town.

The season of lights is almost here, and that means it’s time for the annual Times Colonist Christmas Lights Map.

If you have a light display worth crowing about, let us know, and we’ll spread the news.

Tonight is the Metchosin Christmas Parade

"Come and enjoy our annual Christmas Parade through Metchosin! Fire Trucks and Emergency Service vehicles will be decorated with bright lights and festive decorations as they tour the streets of Metchosin.

The parade starts at 6pm from the fire hall and takes about 90 minutes to complete."

I’m surprised they haven’t sent more missionaries to VV.

We made the annual trek out to Butchart's in what has become a tradition for us over the last dozen years. It never gets old at least for us. It was particularly nice since our daughter really wanted to go in spite of the BF working tonight. This was the first time it was just the three of us since she was about 10. If you haven't been its definitely worth giving it a go.

Was surprised to learn though that they don't have a Senior's rate (adults, defined as anyone over 18, cost $27.50). I would think since there are so many seniors in the region, many on finite budgets but who would love to see the lights and Chirstmas/Yule displays, that BG would cater to that demographic. Regardless running into some old friends, enjoying a hot chocolate out by the skating oval, and the fact 10,000 people can all be in a seasonal mood at the same time made it finally start to feel like Christmas for me.

*I can confirm too that there was no Ben Isitt sighting - too many poinsettia's and Christmas trees blighting the landscape.....

I like the mug at the gardens gift shop you add a hot liquid and the garden appears. Bought one last year the disappearing finish was starting to wear off got another.

They have a large lighted tree just past the carousel building that is voice and sound activated, so the more people talk, whistle, laugh, clap their hands etc., the more responsive and active the lighting display becomes. Kinda cool. Funnier listening to some of the sounds - intended or otherwise - that folks come up with in order to interact with the thing, lol....
