And as to prices, I had a lovely silky piece of Sablefish at Canoe recently for $32. And no big boat obscuring the warm afternoon sun!

Eating out at Victoria’s higher-end restaurants is a pricey eandeavour. Boom’s prices appear to be right on par with restaurants in their league, but they’ve also got a true waterfront location which will be more expensive to operate.

We have yet to see any up-scale chains open in Victoria, like Ruth’s Chris (or the more swankier Pampa), where you’re lucky to walk out with a bill for under $300, before tip, when ordering two entrees, an appy or two, and a single glass of wine per person. Once we see those opening, the five-star market will take note and we’ll see even higher-end independent restaurants.

I don't see too many other restaurants in town with $99 steaks but perhaps I just don't get out enough!

My experience in other markets is that most often the $300 dinners are driven by corporate expense accounts. We don't have that here to nearly the same extent and the majority of residents are retired and living on fixed incomes. 

I wish these guys the best,  I will be interested in seeing how things pan out over time.

They also have a $32 steak for the peasants.  

The 99$ steak is an 8oz wagyu striploin.  In my experience, this is a good price for american wagyu.

For those prices your face should look like Maradona's while you eat it.

That's because there are none. 

I think the closest to what B+B is offering is going to be this steak at the Brasserie L'Ecole:

8 oz Brant Lake Wagyu Coulotte | 50

And that $50 appears to be the top pricing around town for just a steak.  However, you can get to $60 to $70 for steak & lobster combos at places like the Blue Crab.

I wonder which SRF sirloin version they're serving?  Retail pricing ranges from $15 (for the $75 40 oz. culotte version) to $25 USD for an 8oz steak (with a 20% discount for 8 or more of the $25 Gold Grade variety).  https://www.snakeriv...op-sirloin.html

Looks great; looking forward to checking this place out for sure. Bet it'll be hard to get a window seat, heh. Great location - that area had all the energy and buzz of the dark side of the moon in the past. Remember all the naysayers about this development? Wonder where Knot a Yacht is now.....

Portion sizes look average for that style of cuisine. When you go out intending to have a few courses, you don't want each one to be on the larger side. Else you'll end up too full. Hopefully they figure out the moorage assignments and only use that slip last going forward. 

Unfortunately given that this is the largest slip (and easiest to get into and out of) I suspect it will be used frequently.

Ran into the dock master the other day and she said the reason that yacht is moored there is because it is one of only two slips that have the higher power (100 amp 480 volt 3-phase) utilities needed for the mega yachts.  The other such slip is near the business center and was taken at the time.

The current yacht (Arms Reach) at 130' would make it hard for other boats to get in and out if it was moored near the business centre.  If it was my yacht I would much rather keep it where it is opposite the restaurant for easy coming and going. 

As indicated in the image, there is no connection between the restaurant and the dock.

This is another project that had huge nimby action even though the marina was in the subdivision plans from day one. Give them a break on the (multiple, multiple) designs.
