Amazon delivery van doing deliveries at my building today, so must be open to some degree?

Have been for a month or more I think. Been seeing the vans everywhere, and a few orders came so fast I'd be shocked if they weren't from the local DC now. One order was at my door in like, 14 hrs, ordered in the evening, dropped off before noon.

I'm not trying to start a civil war, but in my unbiased opinion they don't have enough jumbo shrimp.

Thats not an Amazon specific issue, though. just depends on their staff, who they hired etc.

Apparently there was a radio ad for Amazon that said they'll hire you without an interview.

What is everyone buying that you make such frequent purchases from Amazon? I think I've bought from them maybe half a dozen times ever. 

I've bought everything from bathroom cleaner to electronics through Amazon. When local stores can't supply what I need, the first place I turn to is "a". I probably average some sort of purchase every other week.

A lot of stuff. Probably average over 100 purchases (and often more than one item in a purchase) per year for the last 9 years. Some is consumables like deo, shampoo, coffee. Gifts sometimes. Kid stuff. Amazon saved us a lot on diapers. etc.

With gas up over two bucks a gallon, driving around shopping may not be the most thrifty procedure for purchasing whatever it is you're looking for.

As well, lots of store shelves are still very often "out of stock" in this post COVID world.

As well, there are always folks who don't view live shopping trips as anything but a grinding chore, far removed from something to be engaged in for pleasure.

But the short answer to your question is simply "anything at all".

I'm still just old school enough that I prefer to see, physically touch, and pick up an item then even ask questions (of a presumably knowledgeable) human salesperson - if you can find someone to help you in 2022 - as opposed to exclusively going the online purchase route. Naturally I've ventured into that realm periodically and certainly understand the positive/advantages in using the online option, but for the most part I am still in 1986 operating mode re: shopping and I'm perfectly ok with that, lol......

Then I pick up the TP wherever I happen to be shopping; if that is Costco (we're there maybe 2-3x yearly) typically we'll buy it in bulk. If not and I'm in SOF for example buying everyday food staples, and Mrs ASE texts me saying we need TP or kitchen paper towels etc., then I pick them up. 

Not trying to be a jerk as I am very well aware that many people everywhere are truly financially hurting due to the cost of living but our household income is simply such that we aren't concerned about saving a few pennies or even a couple of bucks on 12 rolls of TP. If we want it we get it from whatever channel and source is handy, quick and most convenient. Sure I could go online, create an account with Amazon, search out and select a product then wait 12+ hours for delivery. Or I can jump in the vehicle, drive 5 mins to SOF - or 20 minutes to Costco - and buy it there. 

Where I have ventured online is for very specific, hard to find or obtain or hard to source, speciality items.

Last Christmas I went online because Mrs ASE in a very rare ask, wanted a particular piece of jewellery from Tiffany. Normally she is not a jewellery kind of gal...

Now I could have hopped on a ferry driven to d/t Vancouver fought for a parking space and purchased it at the Tiffany store on Burrard St. Then fought my way back through traffic and caught a ferry back to the rock. And blown most of the day doing it. Made way more sense to buy it online so I did. Ditto for the model railroad engines or other rolling stock cars for my train sets: there are no model RR stores in Victoria so same as above: I could go through the hassle of the ferries and Vancouver traffic to buy that stuff in East Van, or I can buy it online, which I typically will because in both cases it was convenient and in the case of the latter I know model trains very well, which brands are worthwhile, what constitutes a fair price etc. So I am not fussed about 'seeing and touching physically' in that case.

I'm just sufficiently old enough however that "online" is not my default mindset unlike, naturally, our daughter and her gen for whom it certainly is, which is all perfectly understandable. People tend to default to what they know. Try convincing a 23 year old to forgo 'online' and buying and supporting "local" and see how far you get with that, heh...

Like many, I got addicted to the amazon teat during covid. When it became ridiculously inconvenient (even illegal?) to shop in store, it was a no brainer to get all your staples delivered. We started getting dog food, toothpaste, dry goods, kid toys, gadgets, tools, etc.

I'm effectively trained-- amazon is where I look first for most things. And the prime music app isn't a bad bonus either!

Too bad the same can't be said about the movies made for Prime video 

The amazon music app is horrendous. I don't even use it even though I have prime. I pay for Spotify.
