They need to get it built before this subdivision is labeled "racist".

Whatever floats your boat. Personally I'd pass; my sis and BIL (and his brother and SIL) all live on BM and they do all love it. Unlike us they are all DINKS and three out of four of them are also retired. I can't stand the continuously snarled and backed up traffic out that way coming and going - with much more to come as new developments come online and more people & cars move to that area.

It would be somewhat more appealing if there was a full on grocery on top of said mountain but that's not happening any time soon if at all, so I'll take our Selkirk-Gorge neighborhood anytime any day for $1000 please Alex.

It's not like that, continuously. It sucks when your neighbourhood gets congested, too. Craigflower gets backed way up during rush hours, so does Tillicum.

Have a look, this is centred on Westhills, as of 11:55AM. No problems:

I feel like adding “selkirk” to gorge is a bit of marketing.

Used to just be “gorge”. At some point through gentrification it became “Selkirk gorge” similar to Langford and colwood upgrading.

I know what the traffic looks like I'm out there enough due to family visits etc. And never at 11:55 on a business day :). But weekends....ugh. At its worst it reminds of Vancouver. And our area never looks like that. Although thanks to the new bike lanes on Tilicum just past the Gorge Rd intersection which cut out one car lane on Tillicum, it certainly does get backed up at late afternoon rush hour no doubt about that.

Unless something changed dramatically in the last 5 months, I have never had a problem getting on or off the mountain. Sometimes get stuck behind a slow moving cement truck or something going up the hill, but other than that - nada.

Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.

Me either; getting up or down the hill is fine its the general volume of traffic whenever I happen to venture out there I dislike. That plus IMO the sterile nature of all that development jam-packed from Costco on leaves me cold. Definitely all very much "Stew's Vision", both the good but also the bad.

They blew away that entire section directly across from Costco including putting in a school and literally stripped away all the trees and green canopy in the process. Between that and once the old western speedway site is fully built out I'm sure traffic will be even that much more fun.

Up on top of Skirt Mtn itself the 'village' is ok but not my thing to be sure. On the last, newest section of the parkway connecting back down to the main highway they did the same thing, literally removing every vestige of green in order to jam as many new homes into the place as possible (see top picture above). Makes for a nice view no doubt from the houses looking down, but its fugly looking at it from the perspective of that image, or from the highway as you pass Skirt Mtn on your way up-island. Even my sister who is a big fan of the community (obviously, she lives there) hates what they did in this latest development.
