The big question is, how many people will actually wait for the light to change before crossing? At the first opportunity many will dart at least halfway, then the other half. The issue with so many pedestrian crossings installed where jaywalking is frequent is the lights aren’t properly used as people will not wait.
right. and evergreen residents are guilty too. the one at downler and bay is like that.

I love these pictures, if for no other reason than they redirect the conversation from the Douglas & Caledonia project thread!
ps: Millie's Lane is great, I only wish the theatre side was more animated. A mural featuring classic movie images along this side might be nice.

Just for full honesty I didn't take a picture of the walkway between the two housing buildings on Pandora as someone was getting medical attention.

Re: “Broad Street sidewalks are tacky and depressing,” letter, Aug. 11.
The reason for those pathetic two-by-six barriers has nothing to do with creating cafe space. The reason is a pressure tactic by the city to force owners of the businesses to pay for the repair of the badly decayed sidewalks, particularly on the west side.
An obviously unfair tactic by the city, whose responsibility for sidewalk maintenance is inarguable, this has reduced a hitherto attractive street to an apparent construction site.
This block of Broad Street could easily be turned into an attractive, park-like pedestrian venue since its closing has caused little inconvenience. Creativity and imagination seem as lacking at City Hall as fairness and consideration.

The sidewalks along Broad Street are pristine compared to those in many residential parts of the city.
