Hopefully it involves the designation of a better name. This site has had the worst names ever. Kunju (which a friend of mine thought was an slur against 2 separate ethnic groups) and now "City-zen".

They're digging around in this site and putting piles in. Too bloody cold to stop to take photos though.

Pre-sales are starting and floorplans are up on the website. Looks like it starts around $289 for 505 square feet. All the floorplans I see are 500-600 square feet. No parking, as far as I can tell, just bike storage and modo car share. This one is only slightly out of my price range, but since my partner has a car, I think the lack of parking is a deal breaker.

This project is a perfect example of how the CoV's approval process adds to the cost of housing. Had this been approved and completed when it was first proposed the market it sold into would have been entirely different. Today, with the extremely limited housing supply, Cityzen is likely selling for at least 20% more than it would have at the time of the first (Kunju) proposal.

Wasn't this one approved back in 2008?

Don't blame the CoV for the horrible designs they've been pushing for this site....
The city has been fiddling with minor variations on the current design for at least 2 years.

No one is ever going to mistake this project with the Taj Mahal; but I am not entirely sure it required 5 years of back-and-forth with the city.

...Anyways the design still sucks...
That's sort of my point. We could have had a "sucky" design with people living in it 5 years ago. Now it's just going to cost a whole lot more for an equally ho-hum project.

Does anyone have an update on this project- has it moved into the construction phase?

It's a shame that in the era of the Chung Wah Mansion, such a suburban-style setback was in vogue. Perhaps this latest development will inspire a rebirth on the other side of Herald Street.

This is the site between Chung Wah Mansions and 1725 Government (old Victoria Brake site). Four storey condo with ground floor retail...
This building is going up really fast...
After a "brief" period of only 9 years in the planning phase.
The street wall being created here is really nice. I'd love to see it replicated across the road.
