Pemberton announced their 2016 lineup in early April, this year they announced it April 28th. And that festival is in July, so much less time between that announced acts and the performances! Rifflandia isn't until September, so they've got plenty of time.

The talent would be booked by now. Perhaps it is next in the line of local festival deaths.

Still nothing.  This is a bit odd.

Last year they had the 1st wave on April 15th second wave May 13th.

It's their tenth year, so I would imagine something will go on.

The only thing I've seen come up are announcements for applications for their 'Main Street' vendors at RAP. It seems odd that they haven't even released a wave of smaller bands - some is better than none.

That being said, they haven't even announced the lineup for the Backyard Weekender July 7-9 - could these be signs of troubling times for Atomic?

Well they are selling tickets for both so maybe they want to maximize that revenue before they tell people who is playing!

Atomique's website still references Rock the Shores as part of the 3-4-all ticket purchase: http://atomiqueprodu...andia-festival/

The 3-4-ALL Festival Bundle is also available for purchase! Three festivals (Phillips Backyard Weekender, Rock The Shores, and Rifflandia) in one bundle.

This September 14-17, the tenth annual Rifflandia Festival will transform the city of Victoria, featuring a truly diverse line-up of artists across numerous stages, all within walking distance in the city's beautiful and historic downtown core. Previous artists includes Jurassic 5, Modest Mouse, Mother Mother, De La Soul, Zeds Dead, Macklemore, The Flaming Lips, and more.

Not buying that theory, I've been going to Riff since the beginning and the line up (which is getting increasingly worse these past few years) has been well under way and being announced by now. They start selling tickets before Christmas for all the festivals (RTS/BYW/RIFF) - including this past year seliing tix for Rock the Shores which they just cancelled.  The music festival scene has become oversaturated everywhere and good acts are getting harder to pin down or snag when they are performing someone nearby in the same timeframe.

I am sure that the weak Canadian dollar isn't helping either.

At least they've acknowledged the delay in announcing...

Doubtful.

They're also likely bogged down planning all the Canada 150 stuff happening on Canada Day.

Looks like I called it. Early bird sale ends just before they announce the line up so buy your tickets now!

From facebook

Raise your hand if you can't wait for our first wave lineup announcement!

We know you're excited, but there's something important you need to know before we announce: Early-bird tickets will only be available until the DAY BEFORE WE ANNOUNCE! So make sure you get yours soon, the first wave announcement is right around the corner...

Rifflandia posted on their Facebook that Early Bird pricing ends tonight which means they'll be dropping a lineup tomorrow.

Some great acts for sure, but certainly not as many big names so far.

Works for me. I even have a Moby album. I like July Talks and Dear Rouge too.

It's a good start.  Nice mix of older acts and newer stuff.

Is someone checking sound levels this year? I live over a kilometer away at the far end of fernwood and the music is louder than my kid talking and the walls were shaking. Weird.

Did you just move into Fernwood? These levels (ear-splittingly loud) are pretty standard for Rifflandia.

Moby sold 10M copies of Play, that's pretty cool.  I loved that album.
