Is someone checking sound levels this year? I live over a kilometer away at the far end of fernwood and the music is louder than my kid talking and the walls were shaking. Weird.

There are signs up in the A/V booths reminding the board operators of the city's noise bylaw along with SPL meters.

I just make sure my earplugs are in securely.

Been here a couple of years now. Can hear the roars at ball games quite a bit, however last night was to the point where a basic conversation in the house needed louder voices than normal - and our house is quite sound proof and a km away. My wife could hear every word in the songs from the dog park.

Hate to be in a place with single pane windows right near the park.

Suspect that the city got quite a few calls last night. None from us - we save those for things that are more than a nuisance.

I'm two blocks away from Phillips. I eventually gave up and migrated to my girlfriend's place. In fact G-man messaged me at one point last night to send his condolences, lol.

rifflandia is loud.. but it's loud every year.. this is nothing compared to the first year they had it at RAP, the first year they had it at the park was intensely loud! even all windows shut i could barely hear my TV it drove me out of my home (if i remember right people heard it in oak bay!) and there was no way to contact them, even i called and filed a noise complaint and was told there was nothing they could do (pretty sad!)

this year is about average with previous years.. BUT this is also the first year they put out notices on buildings in the area (or atleast we ended up with one at my building) about riflandia and letting people know what to expect, and ways to contact them (before and during the festival!) so that is a move forward..

i do find the headliner act (or something later evening) tends to be louder then the rest of them where you can clearly hear the artist vocals..

right now windows shut i can hear the thump thump of the base but it's not too bad if i turn my tv sound bar on it drowns a good chunk of it out..

i just try to remember this only happens once a year.. then it's over for another year (though i'll admit some years i wish for rain to help dampen the sound lol)

Moby is doing a 12:30pm set at Atrium tomorrow and it's only $20 to get in.

Went to today's version of this (TD MusicCounts Lounge). Four acoustic mini-sets in an small venue for $20. It really is the best deal at Rifflandia, especially for people who aren't keen to go to shows that start at 11:30 PM.

Is that the cisgendered white male price?

No need for a ticket loud and surprisingly clear 4 km away.

I assume I was getting the volume from RAP and around an hour ago it was damn loud, with excessive bass.

Part of me says "hey this is only 3 days per year" but part of me also says they can do this just as well with a lower volume or more aimed acoustics.

I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone complain that a concert sound system was too quiet.  I've seen lots of the opposite.

For the 11th year in a row, this September 13-16, Rifflandia Festival will once again take over Downtown Victoria. This year’s lineup features Daniel Caesar, Jessie Reyez, Adventure Club, Current Swell & Friends, Bishop Briggs, Lights, The JB’s, CloZee, and so many more!

“After such a major and successful milestone 10 Year Anniversary last September, we can’t wait to deliver this next edition of the festival”. - Nick Blasko, Festival Director

The daily lineups for Royal Athletic Park, the festival’s flagship venue, have been announced. This is the venue for music fans of all ages to experience performances from some of the biggest names in this year’s lineup.  The age limit for free entry to Royal Athletic Park has been raised to 12 years and younger, allowing more families to enjoy Rifflandia Festival together at an affordable price. Kids must be registered using the registration form found on the “Children” section of the website.

An impressive slate of Night Stage Artists has also been announced today, with Electric Avenue returning as the main attraction, featuring multiple stages along Discovery Street. Multiple other night venues, dozens more artists, and the final festival schedule will be released early in the summer.
