Anyway, regarding the property, who knows for sure exactly where Jerry's property was. The claim was a childhood memory of his son. We know how bad people's knowledge of this area is--it could have actually been on Bowen Island or one of the Gulf Islands for all we know.
Their house was on the peninsula somewhere. One of Jerry's kids attended Claremont.

For what it's worth, his manager lived on Lands End Rd according to my grandparents.

didn’t we think bc lived here?
Used to live here. He has 10 acres North of Elk Lake, and lived there for quite a few years.
As of 2015, although not living there, he still owned the property.
If I recall, when he lived there, he had major issues with the Stanhope composting facility, which was nearby.
When A&B Sound was the go-to music store in town (before internet streaming), he was a regular at A&B, and was frequently seen on the surrounding sidewalks.
It was pretty common for COV residents to see Cummings walking around downtown when he lived at Elk Lake.

Sounds like someone might be paying some speculation tax.

It's the same old story. Somebody moves to downtown Moose Jaw and then complains about the noise.

nor had i.
it's a bit odd that the restaurateur bought them books in the summer but never mailed them to them. then refused to serve them at the restaurant. the story makes little sense.
Bev Koffel, who owns the Deep Cove Chalet with her husband chef Pierre Koffel, said she has seen the royal couple and met with their security guards at the elegant waterfront restaurant in North Saanich.
Koffel said security guards came down and talked to her last week.
“They said ‘How did you figure out who we were?’ And I said ‘It wasn’t too hard.’”
Now Koffel is keeping close to the phone because her husband Pierre was the one who answered when the royals wanted to make a reservation. He turned them down because of the security required.
Koffel said she bought two books for Harry and Meghan during the summer and planned to send them to them. She bought Paseka: A Little Elephant, Brave by Ruth James because of their love for Africa. She also bought them a copy of Neekah’s Knitting Needle, illustrated by her neighbour Sheena Lott.
“I hope to meet them one day. I hope they get my books.”

The second predictable response was criticism. Several readers expressed displeasure at our coverage of Harry and Meghan and Archie, saying that we should have allowed them to spend their time here in privacy, out of the limelight. This is, they said, a private holiday, not an official visit. To be absolutely clear, we respected their privacy. We did not identify where they are staying, even though we have the address, and we did not mention any private functions. We only referred to public sightings.
Besides, the word was out. Hundreds of people were aware, before our report came out, that the royals were in town. They included the people who greeted them on arrival, stumbled upon them or served them in public venues, and so on, along with all the other people who learned from those who had been in direct contact. (If you’re hiking on Horth Hill and you find yourself passing Prince Harry, will you really keep quiet about it?)
You can’t keep a royal visit, even a private one, a secret for long in Victoria. Then there is the increased security at different times in different parts of our region, places where you would not normally be confronted by guards. Does the public have a right to know what is going on? I would argue that yes, we have that right.
