And if the good Comrade wanted it gone, you know its days were numbered in the Square.

“jarring” seems a bit odd. whatever.
Consider the source.

bastion merchants wanted it gone.
Who? Why? It isn't near any merchants, and couldn't possibly have been doing Darcy's or The Local any harm.
The Bastion merchants were on the committee that judged the competition!
And I must have missed the point when Ben became a better judge of scale and context than the artist himself.

Coun. Ben Isitt was happy to see the Commerce Canoe project moved, calling it out of scale and “jarring” in its present location.

There really isn't anything he isn't completely wrong about...

Consider the source.
The whole thing is just so predictable. It's all about discord and manufactured controversies. People just never seem to catch on.
Anyway, I think the reeds and canoe will probably look fine in the intersection, even if it's not where it belongs. FYI: are we really calling the traffic island by the formal name "Triangle Island" as per the Vic News article? I'm just shaking my head at Victorians and their ongoing romantic obsession with that effing intersection by the bridge...

Funny, that's exactly how I'd describe Comrade Asshat's place on council.

Is it true Comrade Isitt is pushing for the renaming of Bastion Square ... to Red Square?!

https://discoverthep...ted-courthouse/Of the many men who died there, the vast majority never had their bodies claimed by friends and relatives. Instead, twenty four hours after their death, they were simply buried in the yard where they were killed. Without real ceremony, without much care. When the time came for them to take down the old jail building and to build in its place the new courthouse, they simply did not bother to dig every body up. Right now, embedded in the concrete and stone foundations of that structure are the remains of many men
