Victoria Gin is the only gin I actually enjoy straight.
I would be afraid to waste it by mixing it with other bubbly substances, but they I haven't tried it.
I guess I see it almost a sinful as drinking a fine single malt scotch with ice. Bleh!

Gin and tonic on ice with a healthy squeeze of lime juice. The perfect thirst quencher on a hot afternoon. I can drink them all day.....or is that "daze"

I agree that it's the only gin you can drink neat; although, it doesn't feel like a waste with tonic. I actually like to mix one part spicy gin (like a Bombay or a Vic Gin) with one part Amaretto. Odd, you say - just try it before you knock it. A real pantymelter back in my bachelor days, eheheh. ;)

As for Scotch, unless you plan to drink it from a proper Scotch glass (which is different from a rocks glass) and use only distilled water, there's really no difference between putting in a cube or two and using even bottled water.

that's sort of what i thought. i'm sure the makers of victoria gin wouldn't appreciate it. i guess it would be easy enough to find out; just go out there & ask :P

I enjoyed them as well, until I discovered how much sugar was in tonic water. It never dawned on me, from the taste, that there would be that much sugar in it.

Fairway market has a "diet" tonic water that tastes pretty good tho.
Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.

The gin and tonic is the only drink to have been developed independently across 85% of the universe.

At the ICC Local Food Fair at Fort Rodd Hill today they had an aged gin available for tasting, though not available for sale. I was impressed by it, a gin I felt I could drink like a scotch or brandy

The Victoria Gin people were at the Victoria Whiskey Festival this year with a wee bit of their first attempt at whisky. It was something like 2 weeks old but they wanted to show it off (as well their gin). I also seem to remember that the whisky was done in the same kettles, etc as the gin.

I'd offer more details but it was, after all, a whiskey festival - the details are fuzzy.;)

Last time I was in Victoria I had a sample or two of this gin and really enjoyed it.

I finally had a chance to try Victoria Gin at Pecha Kucha last night and yes, I deem it worthy on its own. Very smooth tasting.

it is a very good gin, we carry it at Garricks but sadly dont sell much. we do sell a lot of Hendrix. if you havent tried it. be sure to. add a slice of cucumber to it and sip away.

cant wait for the local whiskey, the more the island produces the better off we all are. just try and remember to buy local when ya can.

Never really had gin before trying this stuff, old lady drink stereotype put me off perhaps :P If I drink hard stuff I usually prefer vodka. But yeah, this was really delicious. Had it at a friends house straight. Not sure if I'd buy it for myself because of the price but would definitely consider for a gift or something.

Bought a bottle of their West Coast Hemp Vodka last weekend. Haven't tried it yet, don't know if it'll topple Grey Goose as our premium vodka. It's pricey; you don't use it for mixing caesars.

...and you could filter cruddy vodka through a Brita filter a half dozen times for amazing results :)

Besides, Grey Goose is all marketing. Belvedere is the vodka that you should be spending that kind of money on.

Know it all.

Thread revival and we should now change it to Victoria Gins.

Sheringham Gin of Sooke just won best contemporary gin in the world!

The title is misleading because there is also a 'Victoria Gin' brand

No at the time of the thread being started it was about Victoria Gin, the brand. Now I am using it as Victoria gin. Back in 2009 we would never have thought there would be multiple local spirits.

Enjoying a glass of this most excellent Sheringham gin at the moment. It’s very tasty, but best in... the world? Splitting some pretty fine hairs methinks.
