Enjoying a glass of this most excellent Sheringham gin at the moment. It’s very tasty, but best in... the world? Splitting some pretty fine hairs methinks.

Matt.

Best contemporary gin, i.e. best gin that doesn't have a predominant juniper flavour. The flavour is good though? I've got a gin-lover in the family so was looking at picking up a bottle.

Sheringham is surprisingly hard to find locally. I tried buying their vodka as Xmas gifts this year and had a heck of a time sourcing it out.

We had their akavit and their regular gin plus their barrel aged gin. It was good, but not jump up and down good.

Sherringham is bloody expensive for what it is.  I assume that the price will only go up because of this award.  I prefer a spicier, heavier juniper flavour myself: Stump Gin fits the bill, as does Ampersand.

Plenty of all their products in stock at my large, local private store.

Vodka and gin were both good, but there is just so much out there to choose from. My favourite small batch spirit this year was the vodka and gin from Salt Spring Shine, nice and local and run by some lovely folk.

Ampersand makes nice product too. I

Accolades continue to roll in for Ampersand Distilling out in the Cowichan Valley. Their gin recently won a gold medal at the World Gin Awards, and now their vodka has won "World's Best Varietal" in the World Vodka Awards.

Winner, winner! Esquimalt Wine Company took home a gold medal for their vermouth at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. And yes, they deliver (for free!).

More than a couple local distillers switched to making hand sanitizer to give away. Pretty amazing actually.

The list of distillers across Canada doing this now is pretty large.

Thailand has banned alcohol sales for some reason and my friend who is a former Victorian and now lives there is desperate as all he has in stock at home is vermouth and a bottle of Triple Sec. He has learned the hard way that you cannot make a palatable cocktail from those ingredients and says he is getting close to distilling Lysol.

Lysol is cost effective. High alcohol content without high taxes. Old style shoe polish in a can is also good, though I recommend the white.

Driftwood will be launching the fruit of their new distillery later this year. I have no idea what they're making, but this early in the game I would imagine vodka or gin. The craft spirits market is sure chugging along!

Are we talking national brewer, or a local brewer with an established south Island presence?
