I hope it's the Roundhouse in Vic West! Having a grocery store anchor will give me more confidence that the project will move forward sooner rather than later.

That's exactly where we would love to see it go! Roundhouse Market--bright, contemporary, and an excellent corridor to downtown and tourism also.

Roundhouse is years and years away from completion. And we'll likely see a residential phase or two move forward at Roundhouse before the developers make a move on a major commercial phase.

Red Barn used to have such great deals on veggies, fruits and many packaged products but the prices have climbed since the start of this year and are almost all equal to if not higher than Save On Foods' and Safeway's. Looking at the prices now I think the best deal in the store is still the sandwich for $5.50 but some months back you could walk out of there with two bags of groceries for $15. Now you're lucky to walk away paying $30.

Got official report from a employee last night that the Esquimalt location lease fell through.

Hmm, that's too bad. Despite the rising prices it's always good to have variety. Where was the space, sd?

He didn't know where the space was. I actually broke the news to him (thanks to this forum). He lives in the area and wanted to transfer so kept hounding and was told last week that the lease fell through. Will have him try and find out where....

That would have been a perfect spot but there's an antique store in there right now, isn't there?

I had a feeling it wouldn't last.

I'm surprised the Red Barn lease fell through. That space is not exactly the nicest thing in the neighbourhood and a well run grocery tenant would have been a huge catalyst for the entire area.

^Am getting more info from a manager friend of mine. Being an ex Thrifty Food Supervisor, I know quite a few of the management team that moved on to Red Barn. But agree... that would of been the perfect renewal for that area. May of had something to do with the redevelopment of that property some day.

From RBM: " IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! We are excited to announce store #5 will open in Oak Bay this fall! We can't wait to be a part of the community!#RBOakBay "

Anyone know more?  Will it open in time to have fresh Oak Bay raised venison?

Where the heck will they fit this into Oak Bay? It's great, but really wondering where this will go in.

Perhaps in the new building on the Victoria side of the border?

Visit my blog at: https://www.sidewalkingvictoria.com

It has a whole new look!

Red Barn opening here at 1933 Oak Bay Avenue in the fall, with 6,500 square feet, and parking in the rear.

Right, it seems that the out of town rentals are starting to fill.

They had contemplated Esquimalt at one point but from what we were lead to believe the landlord wasn't very accommodating.
