I have it on very good authority Social Club is closing, and the owners will apply to transfer their LP license to their other establishment, The Local.

I can all but confirm that rumour. It ought to happen within the year.

The city will be happy to approve that transfer, I'd think, to a smaller number of LP licensed seats.

I heard through the grapevine that Social is about out of chances with the LCB for infractions like too many people, underage drinking etc., and Jeremy et al are moving the license to their other place, The Local. I don't understand really why they would do this, unless it just preserves the license until they decide what to do with it, but The Local had better smarten up, in my opinion, as they do great in tourist season with that big patio, but clearly the restaurant hasn't decided what it wants to be. The prices are too high, the food is up and down in quality, one always gets the impression that the only customers the restaurant is interested in catering to are the local rugby players and their groupies -- I guess that's where the name came from. I had a really bad experience there in the summer and I won't go back there -- our party of 15 people waited for over 45 minutes before anyone even asked if we wanted any drinks, yet the full table of "the locals" next to us were served qutie a few rounds of shots and beers. that kind of service won't take the place past the winter months I don't think. and that whole no debit card thing just really pisses me off. One guy has the ATM business -- he also owns a restaurant and a nightclub, and he sells or leases the ATMs to other restaurants etc. in town -- Podium, the Local for instance, so that when you go to pay you're told cash or credit card, and oh, by the way, here's our convenient ATM here for you to use. In the Local's case, a restaurant that is charging $35 for a plate of tortellini ought not to be dinging their customers another $2 for ATM fees. This was supposed to be a discussion about the SOcial, and it's devolved into a harangue about the Local. Sorry. I feel better now that I've got all that off my chest.

i can confirm that the operators of hush are moving their club to the night club space at Mkt Sq where "social" used to be. It will probably be a few months before they are playing tunes and pouring drinks and not sure if they will be going under the name "hush"

Infiniti Lounge.

No age restriction (well, 19+), but they'd like you to be mature, yes.
