I'm going to guess that a security guard hangs out there when not patrolling the property.

Wasn't condo construction in Victoria supposed to be on a medium- to long-term hiatus beginning back in 2008 or thereabouts? And then along came 834 Johnson, the Mondrian, Promontory, Era, Duet, and a few smaller ones, too.

I just hope that the next round gives us some real progress on the Hudson towers and/or Dockside Green.

My money is on Bayview. Dockside is years away from even having a plan let alone a marketable building and Townline will build a commercial building before a residential.

While slightly OT would not the Argus or Janion have a crane? Also who knows what will happen with the Chard proposal at the Black press building and the Ross site.

I doubt Argus will but Janion might.

These photos were submitted to us by crane operator Rhys Foord of this morning's crane dismantling as seen from the operator's cab!

So I was out walking the other night and noted the very distinct hazard light on both the tower crane and Sitkum Lodge. Once the crane is down from the North you would see the hazard lights on Sitkum only. While seaplane activity does not operate at night what about helicopters. There are coast guard helicopters that operate from across the harbour and then there are the medevac helicopters that fly to RJH and VicGen. May flip an email to Transport Canada to see what the plan is.

Yeah the crane certainly had those lights, so presumably Promontory will as well. They'll have to be lit up today though if that is indeed the case.

^^ Nice shots, keep 'em coming.  The smaller crane is loading those concrete counter-weights onto the flat-bed truck.  The big crane is ready to remove more of the main jib.

So "the jib is no longer up"?

The shorter counter jib is still there.  Oh wait, was that supposed to be a play on "the jig is up"?  :)

Looks like they just removed the motor assembly from the counter jib.

They're working on detaching the counter jib now.

And finally here comes the counter jib.  I've been kind of glued to my screen this morning doing a favor for History Buff.  I've been capturing frames from the Museum web cam of the dismantling that he'll be putting into a time lapse movie he's working on.  Stay tuned...

The top just came down.  The operator cab should be next.
