The crane operator, Rhys Ford, has submitted a slew of photos from up in the construction crane cab of the Promontory. Check VV's Facebook page for more.

Awesome pictures. Looks like the balcony railings arrived today on site so maybe we'll start seeing those installed soon.

Is anyone aware if Promontory will get the aircraft hazard lights put on it that are currently on Sitkum Lodge and whether the lights will be removed from Sitkum lodge?
Posted 29 January 2014 - 10:13 PM
When Sitkum lodge was built in the 1980s the heliport was still in use on the property across the rd from where Promontory is.The gravel lot where the crane lifts are done from
I think that is the reason Sitkum Lodge has those lights.

If that is the reason than why would they not have taken them down? Also the crane here has a hazard light on it. Would it not be dangerous for a lower building to have red hazard lights across the street from a building twice as high without them? I mean most seaplanes land in pretty good visibility but if none are needed than take them of Stikum, if they are required than they should be on the taller structure.

I understand that but there is no way that they would keep lights turned on for 25 years after the helipad closed just because. I mean those are not simple cheap lights. In that time period they would have cost a lot of money.

Perfect, thanks HB!
As for those lights, weren't they upgraded a couple of years ago atop Sitkum? I'm sure they're being used as hazard lights for incoming seaplanes?

They've begun enclosing the A floor plans on the lower floors.
Have you seen any refrigerators in the units yet? From a distanceI didn't see any in the lit up low floor 'E' units. Maybe they're in the units but not installed.

Flashing red hazard lights are generally only required at night, when float planes aren't operating.
If it is deemed necessary flashing white lights may be used during daylight hours.
What are the lights on the Sitkum?

with the exception of built in appliances like cooktops, etc, appliances are one of the last things installed
