How long before someone suggests that a park gets constructed here instead of some nasty condos?

Safe to say all three affected neighbourhoods all realize that's a terrible park location.

Yes, I said three. The brick apartment on the right is Harris Green, the B&W is Fairfield and the gravel lot on the left is Fernwood.

Just last night I was discussing boundaries with a highly-placed source within City Hall who agreed the present boundaries don't make much sense. This source has now been forced into hiding.

Since when has a terrible idea ever stopped someone in dysfunction-by-the-sea from suggesting one?

Mods:  The status of this can be changed to "Excavation" as demolition is complete and digging is underway.

PS- I'm not sure that this site will require a crane?

It will, but it might be one of those little guys.

Know it all.

They start digging each day before 7am from what I've seen, not even sure if that's allowed, but they do it with lights.

I think they have installed black fabric curtains over some windows of the building next door.

One of the best things about the B&W project is that it is going to hide the hideous west facade of the older condo building on Fort.

It was intentionally made hideous in expectation something was coming along to block it.  Might as well have a wall there to put furniture and art against rather than expansive windows looking into B&W, where you would always have the blinds drawn anyway.

My guess is those windows now covered is just stairwells, on either side of an elevator shaft.

EDIT:  shaft correct, windows are common halls.

I realize that, but it has been an eyesore for too long already.

If you look at the /// along the Zen floor plan that usually means firewall. Makes sense as it adjacent to another piece of property.

Hopefully this site is immune to all the problems associated with the nearby Jukebox site due to the old underground spring @ Vancouver and View. Remember a few years ago before they tore up that corner completely to re-mediate the substrata how it would sink and buckle over time. I've never heard of that being an issue at Cook and Fort so presumably this area is good to go.

Looking forward to this development as I drove by the old block just prior to it being demolished - it really was in sad sack condition therefore I think this will be a huge improvement for that neighborhood.

It looks very different, considering how close it is.

Have they reached bedrock or are they dug down to the footing level?

Do you think they will be priced at $1000/sq foot (like the Madisson)?

Their advertising says 9 left, not sure if that includes the penthouses.

That white pipe is a Telus fiber optic line.  At least for now, they are going to work around it.
