Too much wall and not enough window. If a large building (especially a widescraper) has a lot of glass coverage then the sheer amount of reflection can partially make up for the obstruction. Reflections can change dramatically from day to day and even throughout the same day. You're not seeing the sky directly but you're still seeing it, which is a lot better than nothing. For the location this building is not bad but it should have been better.

I can create a new account if that would help strengthen my point.

Earlier proposals for this site were better; this one got "Victorianized" to become the widescraper this city seems to favour.

Yup, it could have been way better, but it is what it is, I'm glad to see this building under construction ... it will be great when up.

Well it certainly will be a big improvement over the parking lot. At least they got the orientation of this widescraper right: short sides facing N-S. The worst example downtown of course is the Jack Davis building with its abominable and perpetually dark north facade.

I personally have always liked the Jack Davis building and think it will look a lot better when the proposed buildings around it (especial the Bay parkade) are up. I think the Jack Davis building is in desperate need of a paint job however ...

I can't argue with that. The more buildings that go up around it, the more the JDB will be obscured.

I hope the new buildings, that will help obscure the JDB, will meet your standards and please you ...

I like the JDB.  It's unique.

Unique = wider than it is tall, pinkish w-red framed windows and offices on the ground floor* (meaning no chance of post-5:00 PM or weekend vibrancy - a big fail in d/t architecture IMHO)

* plus the aforementioned E-W orientation - check to see if you can find any images of it's north facade online.

The whole entrance to the lobby is nice.

I think it would be a whole lot better if it wasn't peachy beige.

Agreed on both points. I'd particularly like the lobby entrance if it were attached to a taller, slimmer, much less pink building.

The relevant part: "defines a condo-quality rental apartment as a home with high-end finishes, at least four kitchen appliances, in-suite laundry, and access to building amenities such as fitness facilities, social lounges and swimming pools"
