On a project of this scale, a fairly intensive site investigation program is typically completed. This will give advance knowledge of the sub surface conditions to allow early assessment and pricing of excavation, shoring, foundation options/design, and should address details of the groundwater condition for drainage and envelope issues. Accordingly, I expect that the presence of the blue/clay was anticipated.

Well, I guess it's official now. Save-Ons will be moving into 1008 Pandora.

Save-On-Foods to open downtown Victoria grocery store
http://victoria.citi...-grocery-store/

B.C.-based grocery chain Save-On-Foods will be the anchor tenant at an upcoming downtown Victoria mixed-use rental and commercial development at Pandora Avenue and Vancouver Street, Citified has learned.

Set to occupy approximately 35,000 square feet of retail space at BlueSky Properties' 1008 Pandora project – a six-storey, 195-unit purpose-built rental building with some 50,000 square feet of commercial space – Save-On-Foods will become the downtown core's first full-size grocery store at twice the floor space of its nearest competitor, the Market on Yates. I would have preferred "Quality Foods" but at least it's competition for The Market on Yates.

No News .

I am thinking the tenant will be either Quality or Save On
Save owns a piece of Quality Jim invested in the company gave them a boost a few years ago.
We are still a long way out ground is still being broken onsite,

there you go

OK, Wellburns, you've had a 3 years to get your act together, and now you have a name to attach to the space.

I do not expect much.  Despite having a lower price on almost all items, the Market on Yates continues to outsell Wellburns by at least a 10-1 margin I'd bet.

Well at least now when Wellburns finally goes under, they have a convenient evil corporate scapegoat.

Bedrock is now visible beside the north face - east side and they are getting ready to blast deeper in that area. A crane base has been poured on bedrock beside the east face.

With the state of the muck at this site I am surprised this hasn't happened before.

Before?

That is the same machine that was there further back in this thread on March 13th.

It will probably be there until a crane lifts it out, which will be tricky because of the suction created by the wet clay.

My picture of the stuck machine is post 1592, and your post 8 minutes later is 1593 and your post is right under the picture.

Big deal. Show me a picture of the stuck machine pre 1592 and we'd really have something interesting.

Probably what they were saying during construction of the Alaska Highway in Northern BC
