Now Bernier is still looking like a clown:

Maxime Bernier’s campaign alleges fellow leadership candidate Kevin O’Leary broke Conservative membership rules, but is refusing to provide the party with any proof.
The Conservative Party says it hasn’t received any information from Mr. Bernier’s campaign about alleged vote-buying from Mr. O’Leary’s team, and won’t be pursuing an investigation without it.
“I’ve got nothing to look into,” Conservative Party spokesman Cory Hann said Tuesday.
On Sunday, Mr. Bernier’s campaign provided The Globe with a sworn affidavit alleging one of Mr. O’Leary’s key organizers in the Sikh-Canadian community in Brampton, Ont., offered to pay for party membership – a clear breach of party rules.
The Globe and Mail published a story about the allegations, but Mr. Bernier’s team never sent the documents or any other information to the party to initiate a formal investigation.
“We consider the matter closed on our side so we won’t push that further,” said Maxime Hupé, a spokesman for Mr. Bernier.

Who in their right mind wants to sit through 42 minutes of that? Let alone three of them? Yeesh...

I think maybe it's telling that we need a high-profile Canadian conservative living in the US to at least give them to us. Where else can we find them? I enjoyed the first two, Lisa Raitt does not do much for me. And Leitch does not seem so scary, let me tell you.

O'Leary:
Thank you to all across Canada who have joined Team O’Leary since I launched my bid for leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. In just 69 days, we have sold 35,338 memberships and have raised over $900,000. We have the broad, nationwide support required to win the Leadership and defeat Justin Trudeau in 2019. We have accomplished great things together, but we still have a long way to go.
Not too bad, considering there were only about 100,000 members before the race.
This was the last fundraising period:
Conservative leadership hopeful Maxime Bernier raised over half a million dollars in the last quarter of 2016, putting him well ahead of his rivals.
Kellie Leitch was in second place, with $322,000 raised in the quarter, followed by Andrew Scheer with $297,000.

Kevin O’Leary continues to be the first choice of Conservative party members — followed by Maxime Bernier and Andrew Scheer — according to the latest iPolitics CPC Leadership Tracker, powered by Mainstreet Research.
But it was Erin O’Toole’s campaign that gained the most last week; he moved into the top four for the first time.
From March 28 to 31, Mainstreet reached 1,776 members and found — with a margin of error of +/- 2.32 per cent, 19 times out of 20 — that O’Leary was still the first choice of 23.59 per cent of Conservative members.
Bernier was next....

I could see O'Toole being a lot of people's 2nd or 3rd choice on the ballot...that could be big.

KO is spending some of my money but I'm looking at Rick Peterson who is also doing an island tour this week. Unfortunately I will miss it.

Bernier was always my #2 man, so I think I'm voting O'Leary (1), Bernier (2) then I'm not sure what I'll do.

Scheer is still my number 1. I'm not sure on number 2 yet. O'Leary, last.

...so, I got to meet Kevin O'Leary today at the CFAX studios.
He was pretty glued to his phone, but his entourage allowed me to stage a bit of a photo-op. Woo!

I heard him on CFax this morning. Definitely being handled and coached with good responses. Not so keen on him calling JT bambi all the time. And the threats to the Provinces about not toeing the company line....that will be a deal breaker. If he could tone that down he'd be a serious contender

The Conservative Party says it has set a new record for party memberships in a leadership race. According to a statement released last night, the Conservatives say 259,010 Canadians are now paid-up party members and eligible to choose among 14 different candidates for party leader. That represents an increase of 150,000 people since the beginning of January, the party says, and the total is even more than the 2004 race that saw Stephen Harper become leader. Just over 100,000 people voted in the 2013 Liberal race that elected Justin Trudeau as leader. “We were surprised by the size of the list and I think most campaigns were, too,” candidate Kevin O’Leary told The Globe this morning. The new Conservative leader will be announced May 27.

Deal-maker O'Leary out. Do not count out a deal with him and Bernier, off the record.
