I think that's too far away. It can be moved, but not too far, it still needs to be somewhat central, I think. Perhaps just north of Elk Lake, or along Blenkinsop somewhere. I imagine ALR land is fine for this...

Saanich already has another mini-yard out on Markham.
There's lots of big property out that way that I'm sure the sale of the existing Saanich Yard would pay for in spades.

No you're not. You are contributing to the ideal that all things garbage, turd, or recycle should be dragged, pulled, or piped out to my backyard because it's more expedient for you rather than do the right thing and ship it to Port Townsend.
I am terribly funny.

In fairness, Sparky... whenever possible, I use the storm drain outside my house as a toilet, so I'm trying hard to minimize my part of the waste stream into the sanitary sewer already.
And yes, all my expired pharmaceuticals I ship in a big box to Port Townsend City Hall once a year, with no return address on the package.

I guess the Saanich CAO is on the old Mayor's team...
He retweeted Leonard's musing.

More likely he doesn't like the current mayor just like essentially every Saanich staffer. He didn't even work for Saanich under Leonard so I doubt he's on Team Leonard.

I hate how loosely "Trump-like" is thrown around. What does it even mean?

Really unprofessional move by the CAO, as if there weren't enough controversy about the history of the CAO position and its quarter-million dollar salary.
I know the old saying on Twitter, "Retweets not necessarily endorsements" but Thorkelsson should not have retweeted that without some explanational context. Someone in that position needs a public profile of impartiality. Or so says the "expert" that makes a whole lot less than he does. I guess millionaires don't need my advice.

No surprise, but Fred announced this afternoon that he is running for Mayor.

^ You are kidding right? Fred Haynes.
Correct. He was on CFAX this afternoon. Very politely he suggested that he had the right temperament to run for Mayor.

It might be partly a defensive manoeuvre.

They are declaring because Helps set the pace and everyone keeps asking politicians about their intentions.
Haynes will be the next Mayor. I think that Atwell has improved over the past two years but people will remember the crazy stuff. He also has some personal issues he should sort out (in my opinion). Court services online has more details.
