If you pay monthly, it's possible that you would be forfeiting any of your credit card insurance. The payment method for your flight would be "uplift" rather than your card.
Note that the Victoria flight lands back in Toronto too late to connect to St. John's and Halifax. Only Ottawa and Montreal are accessible.

^ I think you are ok for insurance as long as you pay everything using the same credit card. If uplift doesn't allow payment by card then you are probably SOL.
I understand that sometimes people need to travel and having a deferred payment option is great but paying 15% interest for vacation travel is probably not a good use of funds.

^If you can't afford to pay off your card in full each month, you probably shouldn't be travelling.

I wouldn't risk or count on that that. The method of payment on the flight receipt would be noted as Uplift, not your credit card. Insurance companies aren't the forgiving type.
This article seems to support this theory: How Uplift Buy Now, Pay Later Works for Travel - NerdWallet
Additionally, these purchases don't have the same benefits and protections as a credit card, and won’t offer insurance for trip cancellation, lost bags or a trip delay. Consider all of the factors before deciding if using Uplift or BNPL loans are right for you when booking your next flight.

Porter Airlines starts service on Wednesday - I hope the VAA has something planned. Very low key PR at YYJ.

Porter Airlines is stretching its coast-to-coast network further with the inauguration today of service in Victoria, BC. Daily flights between Toronto Pearson Airport represent another link in a growing network of routes the airline has introduced this year with its new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.
The 132-seat plane features a two-by-two configuration, offering all passengers no middle seats and greater personal space. Free, fast, streaming-quality WiFi is also available, with the ability to watch and listen to personal subscription services on multiple devices. A library of movies and TV shows provides additional in-flight entertainment options.
Porter’s distinct service includes complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, and free premium snacks available to all travellers. Fresh, healthy meals, pre-mixed cocktails and additional snack options are also available.
“Victoria is proving to be among our most popular new markets,” said Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. “We are now truly connecting Canada’s major cities from the west with Victoria to the east in St. John’s, with many points in between. There are numerous other destinations that we intend to serve across North America as additional aircraft are delivered to us through 2024.”
The E195-E2 has the lowest fuel consumption per seat and per trip in its class, and is the quietest single-aisle jet flying today. Sustainability also features in catering, with a priority on reducing and eventually eliminating single-use plastics onboard, providing biodegradable cups and cutlery, and eco-friendly packaging.
Connecting flights with Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and St. John’s are also available.
“We’re so pleased to welcome Porter and a new Victoria-Toronto service,” said Elizabeth M. Brown, President and CEO, Victoria Airport Authority. “It’s always a pleasure to welcome a new airline. Porter’s exceptional service is a welcome addition to the Victoria market and signals continued economic growth and partnership for our region. We look forward to working with them to ensure the route’s success.”

As Porter takes to the skies today from YYJ, WestJet sees Flairs move and matches them on YYJ-LAS service.
Starting earlier in the winter ( Feb 1st, instead of Flair's 15th of Feb )
https://canadianavia...-and-las-vegas/
Feel like WestJet wants to keep in step with Flair, even in the smaller markets.

Some might call that predatory.

Definitely demand as many retirees living on a fixed income are rolling in dough with interest rates moving up.
Personally, I wasn't a big fan of Flair's schedule to Vegas so hopefully Westjet has some better options.

The City of Kelowna is very invested in their airport. Recent article on the status of air services at YLW, posted just the other day, paints a picture of growth beyond what YYJ has had over the years. Mentioned off the top is the loss of carriers out of YLW.
Have a read. It's a well covered review of each airline serving YLW.

Very surprised to see Lynx leave YLW completely at this stage.
