What's with the Vibrant Victoria Facebook post headline rage farming about the airport foodservice operations being taken over by a UK-based operator?
Currently, those outlets are operated by Compass Group Canada. Guess what, they're UK based too.

Doesn't get any better than a full English breakfast.
But ultimately these companies just license concepts and staff/operate them. I doubt there will be much change when moving from one to the other.

^ Headlines like that are inherently going to solicit angry uninformed comments.

The press release didn't highlight that it was a UK-based company - that was specially added to the post headline, without any context such as that the current operator is also UK-based.
What comments other than "they're taking profits away from Canadians" and "UK food sucks" were you expecting?
You've noted several times that VV should not be considered as media. If you're going to post a press release, then post the press release. No need to start editorializing.
Just my opinion.

The only thing exciting about that destination board is Friday Harbour.

I welcome change to the food service provider as someone who worked at YYJ for many years.
Compass Group has been around for a VERY long time and have done a dismal job while I was there.
Something CEO Ms. Brown has seen that needed change.
But it still leave a large hole in food offerings at YYJ compared to similar sized airports with double the food offerings ground side and air side.
Till then ( if anything improves from the current state of food and hours ) YYJ is proud to offer a small sampling of vending machines that work half the time.

Getting lower-wage staff to the airport likely is part of the hardship.

These are all union positions that offer free parking. Right?
Nothing is free at the VAA, parking is charged back to all employers and employees. To replace a parking pass if lost is now 35$.
Nickle and Dime VAA.

Porter growth in Canada continues .......
https://globalnews.c...aviation-costs/
What they have in store for YYJ, still up in the air, but hopeful.
YLW - Kelowna still doesn't have Porter, as it's flooded by other carriers doing the same route, 3 x more carries flying 3 x more flights to YYZ - Toronto than YYJ.
*** Non-stop flights to LAX from YLW start Dec 19 2024 and restarting SEA service on Dec 11, 2024 via Horizon/SkyWest on E175 aircraft.

Should switch to Honk and license based passes.
The VAA has a locked in, long term contract with Robbins, and they got every square inch of the airport to themselves
