I don't see an announcement yet, but on Toronto - Victoria AC originally had reverted back from 3 to 2 daily flights this summer, after running 3 last year.

However, a third daily flight is now bookable again for travel dates June 21st through August 4 with a third Monday flight continuing through Labour Day.

Just looking at that city pairing and YUL.

A mix of mainline and Rouge on both, with some departure time changes from the norm over the last few years too.

Booking app has the three daily with a more spread out departure times than before. Will be a busy summer for AC out of YYJ

Did some poking around on flights/dates/times for the summer trans-canada flights from YYJ

( Did I miss this one or is this old new )

Porter adds a second non stop to YYZ, as a head to head to AC's red eye flight in the 11pm hour on May 15th, operating 4 days a week till June 16th when it goes to 5 days a week till Sept 8th.

Porter ends YOW ( ottawa ) shows only seasonal till Nov 2025 for now.

AC's YUL ( montreal ) flight now arrives an hour earlier than last year and leaves bright and early at 7am. But this Flight will require a push back off the gate and to a remote stand overnite to make room for the other flights arriving on the only 4 bridge stands. No longer Rouge, as mainline A220 service operates the route now.

WJ is still 2 days a week from April to June, then 3 days per week til Oct when the seasonal service ends

Discussed in January.

4 days per week. Looks like some additional Toronto frequency with 11 fights per week starting in May.

Schedules:

YYJ- YYZ

Depart 12:50pm, arrive 8:27pm (daily)

Depart 11:05pm, arrive 6:42am (M, Th, F, Su)

YYZ-YYJ

Depart 9:40am, arrive 11:53am (daily)

Depart 7:55pm, arrive 10:08pm (M, Th, F, Su)

YYJ-YOW

Depart 11:50am, arrive 7:35pm (M, Tu, Th, Sa)

YOW-YYJ

Depart 8:35am, arrive 10:55am (M, Tu, Th, Sa)

The enhanced schedule opens up a lot more connection opportunities over Porter's network.

There are going to be certain days this summer with 8 transcontinental flights, including 3 redeyes. Have we ever seen that kind of volume? Certainly not in the past 15 years or so.

Eg Monday July 7th

Air Canada YUL 7:15 - 15:10

Air Canada Rouge YYZ 8:00 - 15:34

Air Canada Rouge YYZ 11:30 - 19:04

Porter YOW 11:50 - 19:35

Porter YYZ 12:50 - 20:27

Porter YYZ 23:05 - 6:42

Air Canada Rouge YYZ 23:25 - 6:59

Westjet YYZ 23:35 - 7:12

Alaska made some changes to their May flight schedule. As already hinted, a 4th flight was added and the last flight leaves YYJ as late as 7:23pm. That works much better for connections to the redeye bank than the previous 530pm-ish last departure, as well as the late night Asia departures. So far just May, but hopefully they roll out the later departure to the summer too.

The later departure has been extended into the summer.

Starting June 13th there are 5 daily flights to Seattle for the bulk of the summer on AS through August 19th. August 20th the late flight reverts to 5:25pm from the 7pm hour and one flight gets removed.

Operations split between Skywest and Horizon. I don't think Horizon has operated here since the Q400's were retired. All my flights have been on Skywest.

Hopefully the current US sentiment doesn't impact their numbers.

Checking the other carriers, non-stops to Whitehorse are back starting in May after operating via Vancouver for the past year or two.

Air North is operating 2x a week, non-stop to Whitehorse, Mondays and Thursdays. A one-stop flight through Vancouver is still available on Sundays starting in May and Tuesdays & Fridays additionally for the peak summer months.

Flair is back with 4x a week seasonal service to Calgary starting April 25th, expanding to 5x per week June through September. Edmonton runs 5x/week starting at the end of May through end September.

Westjet in July date has Toronto (3x / week), Winnipeg (3x / week), Kelowna (1x/day - I think that's a drop), Vancouver (4x-5x/day), Edmonton (3x/day) & Calgary (7x-8x/day).

Pacific Coastal in July has Vancouver (3x/day), Kamloops (6x/week), Kelowna (2x/day) & Prince George (1x/day).

Air Canada is running 8x/day to Vancouver along with the 3x/day Toronto and daily Montreal.

Kenmore looks to be ending their seasonal San Juan Islands/Boeing Field service at the end of this month, starting again in late September.

I don't see Harbour Air's YYJ flights on the schedule after the end of this month, and that's only 5x/week (started as 3 daily). With the longer daylight hours perhaps the plan is to return in the fall since the float planes can operate later into the evening.

All in all, it looks like it's going to be a very busy summer at YYJ.

Looking good!

Now let’s get a UK one-stopover in there. How great would that be?

Excellent idea as long as it's run by British Airways or similar rather than AC or WestJet..

Sounds like someone hasn't flown BA in while. They are a shadow of their former self, the beancounters having taken over.

BA come well below Westjet and AC in global passenger rankings these days: These Are the World’s Best Airlines of 2025 - Full Ranking - Business Traveler USA

As far back as CEO Richard Paquette , there has been a wish for EU flights

There was some interest and some inquiries from Condor of GER during Geoff Dicksons days.

That never produced a charter flight similar to the couple direct flights during the summer months to Whitehorse from Munich on a tour package with their B767-300ER which I think didn't restart after COVID.

No kidding, BA is one of the worst to fly on now, we flew from YVR to HKG last year and it was terrible on every level. Couldn't even get the attendants to restock the washroom. They served a meal and then disappeared.

We flew China Airlines from TPE to SFO and what a pleasant difference that was.

Premium economy on both flights.

Not sure which carrier you flew with, but BA never has flown YVR to HKG.

The problem with WS cheapest flights to London are through Toronto or Halifax on the horrid 737 Max 8.

You are right I misspoke, it was CPA, a previously excellent carrier.

I had the BA experience on a flight to LHR.

I saw Cathay Pacific decline in quality too. Unfortunately East China Airlines quality dropped too and prices rose, but not as significantly.

The Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) is excited to
announce the launch of the YYJ Solar System Pathway, a unique outdoor educational
project that invites residents and visitors to explore our solar system in a fun and interactive
way. The YYJ Solar System Pathway, conceptualized by 17-year-old Evan Papps, a Grade 12 International Baccalaureate student at Glenlyon Norfolk School, is designed to inspire a
love for astronomy and environmental stewardship.

The pathway begins at Jubilee Park playground on Mills Road in North Saanich and extends
clockwise for 9 kilometres along the paved and accessible YYJ Flight Path, showcasing the
sun and the eight planets through a series of interpretive signs placed at proportionate
distances. Each metre along the path represents 500,000 kilometres in space, making it an
engaging way to visualize our cosmic neighbourhood.

“We wanted to create an experience that not only educates but also engages the
community,” says Evan Papps. “I’m incredibly grateful for the support from local businesses
and organizations, including the Invasive Species Council of BC, Don Mann Excavating,
Nicholson Manufacturing, Victoria Airport Authority, and the Takaya Legacy Project. I hope
this pathway inspires everyone, especially children, to learn more about astronomy and take
small actions to protect our planet.”

The pathway features ten informative signs that include fascinating facts about the sun and
each planet. Artwork created by local children and tips for maintaining healthy ecosystems
are included, making this a community-focused initiative.

Elizabeth May, Member of Parliament for Saanich-Gulf Islands, shared, “This is a
remarkable initiative that blends education, sustainability, and community spirit. The Solar
System Pathway is a perfect example of how local projects can inspire both curiosity and
environmental awareness, while celebrating the rich history of the Coast Salish peoples. I
commend Evan and all those involved for their vision and commitment to our planet.”

Peter Jones, Mayor of North Saanich, added, “The Solar System Pathway is a wonderful
addition to our community and aligns with our commitment to environmental stewardship and
education. We invite everyone to walk, run or roll along the Flight Path and enjoy this
fantastic learning experience.”

Know it all.

Good to see, almost back to the old days of 8 flights daily on the Dash 8 200Q.

Horizon Air takes back all the flights from Skywest as the operator.

YLW seasonal service to SEA winds down next month and ends on April 24th, and their Non Stop Service to LAX ends on Tuesday, tomorrow for the season as well, leaning only WJ Encore to SEA.
