We bailed on our Alaska cruise and booked MX for September instead. Interesting we have to go YYJ to Calgary then dog leg to the Mayan/Cancun and the same on the return flight, it seems Cancun flights out of Vancouver are frequently cancelled by the airlines on that route at that time due to it being hurricane season. Not sure the airlines see significant drop in passenger volumes out of YVR at that time or if it has more to do with the type of (larger?) aircraft flying out of Vancouver at that time. Per our TA they are far less likely to cancel the 737/MAX's out of Calgary. Ah well c'est la vie......

WJA or Onex corp, selling off parts of the airline for investments, never thought a Canadian airline would be partly owned by a US carrier.
American Airlines had a pretty large stake in Canadian Airlines back in the day.

AI:
In Canada, airline ownership rules are designed to ensure a significant degree of Canadian control and prevent undue foreign influence. To be considered a Canadian airline, a company must be incorporated in Canada and have at least 51% of its voting interests owned and controlled by Canadians, as outlined in the Canada Transportation Act (CTA). Additionally, no single foreign entity (including foreign air carriers) can own or control more than 25% of the voting interests, directly or indirectly.

You're right, forgot, my brother-in-law flew for Canadi>n airlines and got sucked into AC, lost all seniority and had to learn AirBus after years of 767 and DC-10 days

I don't pay for subscription news outlets, like CH aviation, but saw two items that caught my eye.
As much as I was able to read before the pop up covered the screen.
United Airlines is restarting Regina YQR to Denver DEN daily service on a CJR, after 10 yrs when they cut it.
Also Alaska Airlines is shifting more domestic service to Portland, as it's popularity grow, but also making SEA more of a international gate way with larger aircraft and far off destinations coming

With the combination of Alaska and Hawaiian, we’re transforming Seattle into the West Coast’s new premier global gateway. Our hub at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is already the largest airline hub on the West Coast, serving 104 nonstop destinations across North America. Seattle is the closest connection point between the continental U.S. and Tokyo – 7% closer than San Francisco and 13% closer than Los Angeles.
Tokyo Narita and Seoul Incheon are our first two long-haul flights from Seattle of the 12 we’re looking to add. We’ve seen strong interest in our nonstop flights to Tokyo, with half of the tickets we’ve sold in the U.S. for flights to Narita originating from more than 80 cities outside of Seattle. Flights between Seattle and Seoul begin on Sept. 12.

I didn't make it to the AGM after all, but a friend did. Normally it is recorded and posted to YouTube.
I went looking for the video of the meeting, and found the VAA removed it's YouTube channel.
But in my searches found this recent, year ago, talk with the Chamber of Greater Victoria.
Good chat.
Then heard CEO Brown on CFAX with Al this morning.
Finally getting out in the public light with, whats going on now and the future.
Here is the link for the Chamber Talk episode.

Cant find a link to post here, but the 6 min chat this morning on CFAX with the CEO, but it was a good chat.
Mike, maybe another good time to have a Q&A session with Ms Brown? and see if that 7000ft runway will see alittle more room.
