So, the question is - who is counting the amount of rodent hair in the spices we just bought - imported from China?

A little ingested ground rodent hair never hurt anyone. ;)

Maple Leaf recalls thousands of weiners

Not like I'm a hot dog consumer anyway.

You know, if you substitute "Maple Leaf" with "Madonna" you get a good selling point for her autobiography.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

True, seeing as we all eat it without too many ill-effects. Shame about that Melamine contamination, tho..

The UK was known for decades as one of the worst countries for 'quick' food - bland, expensive, greasy bacon butties, weak tea, awful coffee; uninspired menus and bad ingredients. During the late '90's that changed with chains like Prét a Porté, Starbucks and others; even the rail companies had semi-decent platform food and catering car options.

Now M&S has come out with something so ridiculous it makes me wonder at reality. A 75P jam sandwich.

Spicy food.

I'll never understand why people want to burn their mouths when they eat.

It does depend on the 'heat' or amount of spice - here I semi-agree with Phil, who might have been subjected to outrageously hot dishes. That could put anyone off.

gumgum - I do agree. Flavour in food is what we are after, and spices, especially the chilies, cumin et al do make a dish.

When I lived in Europe, and travelled allot for meetings in the UK - there was (still is apparently) a 'guys' thing of going out for drinks, and then the hottest food you can handle. Like a right of passage - never could understand it - it was never the food itself, only how much chili level you could handle. Not my kind of enjoyable food experience.

If you ever get a chance - there is a tequila produced in Mexico that has slow roasted H5 (hot) chilies infused. It's a red/orange colour, and MAN packs a whallop.
