So residents of the Wave will NOT be able to access the roof? What a shame. Why on earth did they go with that design then? What a killer green roof that would be (the long one, above the 9th floor).

I agree, I also wish they had continued the blue glass to the right of the tower section. I also wish the tower portion was another three or five stories.......

Aastra could you do this to see how it could have looked????

pleeeease? :-D

wow, some more aastra magic! I actually don't mind the overall look of the Wave as it stand now (except for the concrete section, which looks better covered in glass as aastra has showed.) I like the longer lower section, as it gives a powerful but not overwhelming modern urban glass wall effect to that portion of Yates street, without being another View Towers block. To me it doesn't look like a fatscraper (especially from the Yates street side), of course it helps that there is the taller section on the left. I dunno if I would like it with the left side being significantly taller.

Scary to think that they are thinking of putting a 14-16 storey wall on the theatre parking lot...the two towers would be a much better idea.

You cannot see it but there are loft units above the 9th floor. With windows at least there are in the model in the store on Blanshard Street...

Visit my blog at: https://www.sidewalkingvictoria.com

It has a whole new look!

I'm glad someone found my Flickr photos and put them to good use. :) We're new to Victoria, and we're now settled in the Wave.

Thanks for the welcome !

Except for the minor deficiencies that are common in new buildings, we're pleased with the building and the downtown neighbourhood. We moved here from Vancouver's West End, and all of the West End's amenities are present in downtown Vic (markets, restaurants, coffee shops, proximity to parks, walking distance to employers, walking distance to waterfront). :)

Alas, there's nothing we can do about the Wave mural on the side of the building !

but complain??? hahhahaaa

Well I am glad you found Downtown home and as enjoyable as Van's West end...that's amazing in it's self. I just hope in ten years we can add many more residences to give homes for more fleeing Vancouverites!!!

Cheers

Welcome BCGuy!!

Yah, that was me posting your photos, I hope you consider it a compliment! :D

now, when do we get the invite for the party at your new pad?!

Nice to hear you are enjoying Victoria, it's people like you deciding to live downtown that will make it an even better city for all of us, including the tourists.

cheers!

Dang, that Wave is looking nice!

I think the Capitol 6 lot should have 2 selnder towers rather then another, shorter View Tower. I think, personally, that the View Towers is the ugliest building in downtown!

Gee. Could they have made the streetscape less inviting? Those 'awnings' look like they've been hit by an ugly stick until they were dead...

I like the porta potties though... They at least block some of the view.

The ground floor of The Wave is an example of what not to do. It's so dissapointing.

Tastes are subjective. I can see why Ben would find some of the features appealling.

I am with Ben, I don't mind it.

My complaint with the wave is the west side top portion of the building...it's a wall of concrete, and it should have been taller, thus making it look less chunky.

I love the blue glass, and I really actually like the lower level. :-D
