Saanich is also developing. Where’s the parkland?

Where is that raw land they are developing in?  Certain there is parkland included...  Most is already very established..

Do you believe the current regime plans to make improvements to vehicle infrastructure?

I would like them to do some major changes, but I know it ain't on this year's budget to do so. Still, I'd be very happy to see some small changes to improve the lives of active transportation users and pedestrians in our area. For example, Millstream would be better off with consistent sidewalks north of the Loghouse than whatever the hell it is now. The new sidewalks on Goldstream between Spencer and Ruth King are pretty good and makes it a much nicer place to walk – I hope we see the same standard elsewhere in town.

Unfortunately, really unscrewing our roads is nearly impossible now – properly fixing Millstream for example would require moving the Tim Horton's, A&W and the Sleep Country about 30 feet to the west

I'm not sure that's going to get you unstuck from your current weekend traffic jams.

Big scope to fix..  Like may be unimaginable...

No, but improvements are improvements and I like working transportation networks.

I am actually hoping that if that Superstore opens on the old Mayfair Lanes location and another Costco appears in the south island that'll do more improvement for Langford locals than anything the city can do.

Yeah the growth was so fast, some things got left behind...

Indeed, and when Langford was nothing more than a bedroom community serving Victoria, it didn't need stuff of its own.

But now Langford is nearly twice the size as it was when I moved here, and by Stew's plan the core is developing into a place with a college campus, highrises and restaurants. It's not hard to see that maybe it also needs to catch up in those basics.

There should be a tax freeze until we get through this. What is wrong with these people? Crushing inflation, increased mortgage rates, reduced income and now is the time for tax increases?

In theory I agree with you, except that reduced income didn't happen for all those union employees. That's a big reason why there are tax increases. And one big reason those union folks got big raises is due to the inflation.

I was looking for why the GVPL budget ask is so high too. That's a huge part of the increase for Saanich, for example. Anyone know? We used to have a Library guy here.

Not to mention literally everything the city needs from gasoline, to vehicle maintenance, to asphalt, are more expensive for the same inflation reasons.

The Consumer Price Index rose 2.9% on a year-over-year basis in January, following a 3.4% gain in December.

It’s only a problem, because the other municipalities refuse to build the retail their residents want to shop at.

Know it all.
Citified.ca is Victoria's most comprehensive research resource for new-build homes and commercial spaces.

Kind of? The companies people want to shop at kinda have to be willing too, ya know.

Didn't those companies pay a 'Amenity fee' that instead of helping with amenities went to reduce taxes...?

They can just use less like they ask of of us. Use less water, less gas, less space…. Make some cuts like any corporation would if under financial stress.

Many in healthcare. The ferries. People who stuck to their principles against you know what. Then there are those who just retired early.

The issue of increasing taxes as it relates to incomes being down was the reference. The notion that unions were unaffected in particular. This was challenged. Then I responded. You then challenged. So it's your fault!
