New reality?! Man, I really *am* doing everything wrong.

Sorry to disappoint you, but sometimes there are challenges in life. It's no surprise that privileged fat-cat small business operators would be among the very last to learn this lesson. Bless the noble politicians in Ottawa for their willingness to educate.

(As ridiculous as this comment is, it's not far off from the attitude expressed in many of the comments below that CBC article.)

This summer I worked more hours than ever in my life. No, I’m not proud of it.

Work while you still can Matt. In a few short years climate change will undoubtedly submerge 95% of SSI. Maybe you should think of setting up an alternate location at the top of Mt. Maxwell.

But why would he be paying it back now when it’s interest free and no payments are required?

Get ready to pay it before the end of the year. But making payments now is losing you money.

And there is also some chance it’ll be extended again.

Oh yah fair enough. I didn’t mean literally today, just in the next few months before it’s due.

I may have mentioned this before, but our credit union advised us to settle up right now because they will be busy when the loan is actually due. Sounds like a credit union problem to me. I said let it roll.

If a business can’t pay today, it’ll likely be worse in December.

We spent a few grand this winter upgrading our basement sump. We had a massive flood in December with the king tide, can’t do that again!

If there was a ferry to the top of Maxwell I’d think about it. Maybe a gondola?

...I would do a lot for a free $20k.

It's nice to know you have your limits.

Is this in addition to the long-standing 3100 Douglas Street location or as a replacement for it, because it is closing?

I assume that means that the Denny's down the street is closing.

I would guess so. I wonder when it opened? I can’t remember anything else ever there. Must be 45+ years.

Sounds like Pattison will be building a Subaru dealership on Douglas and Finlayson.

Not exactly great news.

Know it all.

Victoria’s burger scene downtown is getting so crowded you can’t swing a French fry without hitting a beef patty covered in melted cheese.

And we’re all here for it.

The latest is Boardwalk Fries Burgers Shakes, which has taken over the space at the Bay Centre that was occupied by Johnny Rockets on the Fort Street side.

Inspired by the legendary fries on the Ocean City Boardwalk and founded in 1981 by brothers Dave and Fran DiFerdinando, Boardwalk Fries Burgers Shakes does big burgers, as well as fries that are smothered in everything from cheese to jalapenos to garlic to chili.

It seems to go against the whole residential future of the Mayfair area that is allegedly taking place.

Isn't that just Saanich's vision though?  Not Victoria's.
