Even if found, the penalty will be next to nothing. Certainly it will be no deterrent to prevent the same thing from happening again. You wouldn't want to stigmatize/traumatize the poor tykes.

Oh I think they will be charged and taken through the court system. You really have to do that where assault has occurred.

And as youths they will be given a slap on the wrist sentence.

Probably. But maybe it’ll make some of them think better.

I doubt imprisoning youth makes them come out much better on the other side though.

At least while they are incarcerated they are less of a menace to society.

Having recently been the victim of youth-related criminality, the system did nothing of substance.

Even the soccer team one of the ignorant kids plays for, shrugged and went against their own bylaws of holding players accountable for their off-field behaviour.

Nobody wants to involve themselves in parenting. The current generation, unless a strong figure guides them, is adrift, and will be adrift the way our society views them as infallible or untouchable. How many times have we heard 16 year olds should get the vote, because of their wealth of experience and insights?

Definitely Buccaneer Days today - the entire muni was awakened by the ear shattering chorus of multiple firetruck sirens throughout and loud hailers everywhere prompty at 7am  proclaiming "wakey! wakey!" this went on for at least 20-30 minutes throughout Esquimalt. Late risers and dogs, including ours, were not amused.... all in good fun however. A reminder though traffic along the main arterial-roads will be stoopid-crazy so you might want to give the area a wide berth unless you're actually partaking in the festivities.

The parade route will be quiet this year.  A lack of volunteers and strict new safety requirements have sunk the parade for this year’s Esquimalt Buccaneer Days.  “It is with heavy hearts that the Buccaneer Days Organizing Committee has to announce that we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the parade this year,” the organization shared on the Esquimalt Buccaneer Days Facebook page. “We know this will be a disappointment to many.”

The event traces its roots back to 1939 when Esquimalt hosted a May Queen celebration. This eventually evolved into Esquimalt Days before becoming Buccaneer Days in 1966.

They should invite the pro-palestine protesters to join the parade. They seem to have no problem getting out people to protest every weekend.

Wakey Wakey returns to Esquimalt on Saturday, May 9 starting at 7:00 AM

A beloved Buccaneer Days tradition for generations, Wakey Wakey has been helping wake up the community with pirate spirit since the 1960s. Keep an eye (and ear!) out for Esquimalt Fire Rescue crews as the fire truck makes its way through neighbourhoods spreading Buccaneer cheer bright and early; with the siren blaring and the loud speaker calling out 'Wakey Wakey'.

Check out the route map, come out to say hello in your best pirate gear, and join in the fun with garden hoses and squirt guns as the crew rolls by.

Once you are up, head to Archie Browning Sports Center for a pancake breakfast!

We can’t wait to see the community lining the streets and keeping this classic Esquimalt tradition alive. Arrr you ready?

Wakey Wakey returns this year to wake people up at 7am and remind them not to go to a (non-existent) parade.   :1954_dancing:

Wouldn't get a very pleasant welcome going by my house at that time.

Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.
