Good article: http://www.timescolo...9795/story.html
It has the essential NIMBY elements of the developer squeezing too much out of a lot and also the classic, "I just moved here and they are changing things on me".
Quite funny especially considering this is a four storey building on one of the busiest streets in the city.

Since it will likely be shot down I am not sure why I started a thread
Apartment project stalled
An application to construct a 36-unit apartment building in the 900-block of McKenzie Avenue in Saanich was tabled Monday for the developer to take another look at the design.
While Saanich councillors supported the proposed density, they wanted the applicant to make design changes and discuss the proposal with neighbours, said Mayor Frank Leonard.
The developer was seeking variances related to lot-line setbacks. While planning staff said none of the variances would result in overshadowing or affect the privacy of adjacent properties, council disagreed.
