OMG have you seen the early morning garbage scene in New York?! Yikes it's gross.

It's even worse in New Orleans (the Old Quarter at least) where the garbage "ferments" overnight in the humidity and heat.

Good News: Victoria’s second Park & Ride opportunity is opening up May 1st. This is a convenient way for downtown employees to get to their workplaces quickly while enjoying Victoria’s awesome, and friendly, transit system.

For just $120, you can purchase a Park & Ride monthly spot AND a monthly bus pass. On its own, the BC transit pass is usually $85/month.  With this deal, you're essentially getting a secure parking spot for $35/month. Our first park and ride sold out almost instantly and is well loved by people who use it. Transit stops are located next to the parking lot, so it's easy to hop on or off a bus to and from downtown. This is perfect for office workers.

To register for an available spot or to get on the Park & Ride wait list, please call Robbins Parking at 250-382-4411 or email monthly@robbinsparking.com.

The lot is located at 2915 Douglas Street (between Topaz Ave and Summit Ave.) where it’s easy to hop on multiple bus routes to and from downtown. See picture below click here to view google map.

It's the Super 8 lot.

It's the Super 8 lot.

And while you're at work the residents at the Super 8 will completely overhaul your car for you. You literally won't recognize it when you return.

I was told in excess of 50. It's just 40?

Here's the odd thing. I was at Spoons less than a month back, and the parking lot was so full there that we had trouble finding a spot. Spoons was busy, for sure, but it couldn't have accounted for so many vehicles. When I called in regarding the parking lot the moment we had learned of the park-and-ride fewer than 30 stalls were available.

Which of your vehicles were you trying to park though?

Lol, it wasn't I who was behind the wheel.

I'll be on CFAX at 5:20 chatting about this for a few minutes.

CFAX says 40. CFAX also reports on the pilot program where you can buy a monthly permit to park on Discovery, Kimta, 2100 Government, Queens etc. For $80 to $100.

I wonder if that means that the 2 hour free parking on those streets will vanish.

Edit. Sorry, Princess and Pembroje, not Queens.

It will not vanish but will be less available M-F days.

There we go. There's no reason people should be doing the 2-hour dance every day. The City should make a big portion of Vic West eligible for this program, too.

What's happening with Tyee?  Time to put those people on 4-months notice that that stretch will be 2-hour max. or permit soon.Better yet, is there a way to make that angle parking and increase the spots by 25 or 30%?

Not without removing the bike lanes.

Not without removing the bike lanes.

Oooh, you don't want that.  Then bikes will use the travel lane, and we know how drivers* feel about sharing respecting other modes of transport that also have full legal rights to the travel lane.

* Not all drivers, of course.

What if every bicycle along the Goose was forced to travel at the speed of a child on a tricycle? You'd be none too pleased about that.

So now you can imagine why motorists are none too thrilled about slowing down to 20km/h, if that, when a cyclist occupies the travel lane.
