You can’t walk the broken escalator(s) at The Bay. I don’t recall if there is one or two broken.

Took a rip into town today for some errands and found easy parking at the Johnson st parkade. $3 for a couple hours or whatever. I have never understood why able bodied people complain about parking.

That app rules.

I have been a resident of the CRD for over 45 years and IIRC I have only ever once accessed the underground parking at the Bay Centre.

I go to the Bay Centre maybe once per year these days but for the first several years of the Eaton's Centre's existence I was probably inside the parkade at least once per week.

This is how you move from floor 4 to 5 at The Bay.

The escalator is broken, as is one of the elevators so there’s a detour. They’re doing the best they can.

Wow, that escalated quickly. It sounds like they're experiencing many ups and downs.

It's definitely a step in the wrong direction.

A passport to frustration, so to speak.

I feel bad for Mike. You just hate to see an otherwise routine interaction with the federal government turn into a drawn-out and exhausting ordeal.

Let's cross our fingers and hope nothing like that ever happens again to any other Canadians.

It's as if the Bay Centre has turned into a mere facade of its former self.

I am handicapped and ended up going to the West Shore for my passport.

There's a West Shore passport office?

No wonder I can't find the Bay Centre stair case to the parkade.

And it's all on one level, no stairs or elevator required.

A controversial proposal to impose parking fees at nine regional parks, including Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park, has been put on hold for a few months while Capital Regional District directors gather more information.

On Wednesday, the CRD board voted in favour of asking staff for information about how parking fees are working at Thetis Lake and Sooke Potholes, the only two regional parks with fees in effect. The report would go to the parks committee and is expected next month. The CRD board also voted in favour of asking staff to prepare a report on a wide range of issues surrounding parking in regional parks, to come back in 2024.

Wouldn't that information normally be made available before they considered this?

If you're a college student looking for a new piece of dorm decor that pairs well with abandoned street signs, you might want to cash in on an upcoming sale in Red Deer.

The City of Red Deer is selling 1,100 coin-operated parking meters this week as it prepares to fully transition to a digital online parking system.

The meters have been replaced with 21 digital pay stations, as well as the HotSpot Parking app, as part of Red Deer's parking infrastructure improvement project.

Amy Fengstad, parking and licensing supervisor for the city, said citizens have been contacting staff throughout the transition to ask how they can get their hands on a piece of downtown history.

"It was unexpected, but we thought, 'If there's some that are asking, then there may be more," she said.

_______________

Befitting a parking meter, it's a cash-only sale.

Meters will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Single meters are priced at $20 and double meters at $40. The poles are an extra $10. Prices include GST and are non-negotiable. All sales are final. Unsold meters will be recycled.

We will be ridding of our pay stations soon too...  Doubt we would sell them..  They have served their time.

I walked through The Bay Centre and the escalators are all in operation...  Well in the Mall itself, I didn't check the Bay...  It's been a while since I saw that I feel.
