Why would the comments matter? 500x more people see the post, than comment.

You don’t understand social media.

Well I treat it like a poll..  If 80 comment negatively, the % of the other 40,000 who might agree should have some value.  Most people that follow and comment take a negative side usually when speaking about the City.  Sure there will be some, and I thanked you for promoting it.  Is it usually the same 80+ people who comment or do they take turns.  Why do you take a personal dig, I feel like I have a good enough understanding of social media but happy to learn something more.

I'll say this, being a loyal follower of VV posts, I certainly do not see them all, so I'm guessing that all the other folks don't either.  Do you get number of actual views of a FB post?

Oh yeah, totally.

Believe me, the comments are fun to read sometimes, because they’re so wacky. But tens of thousands of people will read a post that maybe 25-50 people comment on.

Seriously though, 56k followers of VV, how many of those would see each post you think?  50%?  Not trying to downplay in any way, just would you even have an idea of the actual number?

The number of followers doesn’t necessarily relate to reach, so you can have far, far more people seeing a post than a page’s followers.

But the amount of followers doesn't mean all those (probably mostly local) don't see the post unless they search VV...  It doesn't matter much if your million viewers see it if they aren't local does it?

Why wouldn’t it matter?

Of course it matters. You don’t think, someone from Nanaimo, who wants to come downtown to shop, matters? Weird take.

I don't think someone from Calgary or Kelowna matters.  Why would you think I meant Nanaimo?

Why not ask who the audience is, instead of making up your own story line? You think our audience lives in Calgary, or Kelowna. And you assume the audience we have, doesn’t matter.

It’s so hard to have a conversation with you. Your thought and reasoning processes do not make sense to me.

Listen I thanked you, mentioned that most people who post on there are super negative so likely many of VV followers are too so I'm not sure of the impact, you told me a million viewers, I was kind of asking how many followers would actually see it (you still haven't answered just made up numbers), then told me part of the million viewers are shoppers from Nanaimo?  You told me I don't know how social media works but you fail to explain in any simple term or answer a question directly.  Anyway thanks for doing it and the fabulous explanation on the million viewers.  Downtown Victoria will be packed over the next few weeks thanks again.

I just never know when you are joking or not.  Are you upset and triggered now or still joking?

You’re the most challenging person I know to have a conversation with. Nothing is linear with you. You make up your own answers to questions you should be asking, you dismiss others when they’re trying to explain to you why your assumptions are incorrect, and you are never satisfied. You just keep coming.

Stop concerning yourself so much with what I do. If it doesn’t matter, why does it matter? Just dismiss it, and stop worrying about it.

You brought me into the conversation.?  The conversation ensued with questions and sub-par or non-answers...  Relax, it's just a conversation that you don't know the answers to.. It's ok, just say: "I don't know the exact reach on FB but I appreciate you thanking me."..  But yeah I know how social media works :)

You’re doing it again. It’s so hard to have a conversation with you.

Of course I know the reach, and the metrics of my audience.

So when you say my reach “doesn’t matter,” it tells me you’re not familiar with online marketing. You could ask, but instead you make incorrect assumptions.

I did ask...  I think a couple times.. Anyway share info or don't but don't say this is on me..  Maybe don't bring me up to solicit info that I do provide and then not give info back.. Take care, let me know if you have parking questions...

I asked why you didn’t share with us, that parkades are free on two Saturdays.

Would you consider providing free parkade parking every weekend, until Christmas?

My audience of one million people every four weeks,

Ummm, people or views? there is a big difference, that means you have every single person in Vancouver Island and then some viewing this site.  If I view the site say 50 times in a month, that's not 50 people viewing.

I do not have that authority, that would be Council.  I have many things I consider though...  I would think that free parking on Saturdays would lead to full parkades and folks circling...  The holiday season is the busiest downtown no matter what people say about the death of downtown.  Yates parkade will be full on those Saturdays (through the Holidays) already even at $2.50/hr.  That's why we are doing this in November.

Would you consider sharing your metrics now?  Such a one way street with you.

The feedback on the comments you read, is asking for more free parking periods, to help with downtown business.

Since you believe comments represent most of the sentiment, it sounds to me you should emphasize this to council.

Umm, is a screw different than a nail?

Ismo, can you see now why the comments section is such a wild place? It doesn’t matter what is said, people can’t read
