Which works out to an additional spot per five of those 800 square foot condos. Five such homes, six parking stalls. Is that really too much when the five studios down the hall have three parking spots between them?

I am just saying that we let the market decide and remove the requirement. If there is demand for parking in buildings than I am sure that developers will want to satisfy that need. If not then they won't and people won't have parking. I am not getting the need for government to demand parking.

The problem is many developers are inclined not to supply that need, if they don’t have to. It’s a lot easier to sell a $299,000 condo without parking than the same condo for $349,000.

You’d be surprised how many purchasers of those $299,000 condos eventually wake up at 9AM one Saturday morning with a car parked on the street that they have to move.

That is a problem for that owner and as a bonus the city gets parking enforcement revenue. Seems like it would help the housing affordability issues if condos are cheaper plus we are moving towards a world with less need for automobile ownership especially downtown.
