Its a real hot topic in Tofino. Tourism was decimated this summer, and they still had stage 3 water restrictions. This info would help prove to many that tourism is not the enemy ! The word is out, Tofino is an amazing place to visit, the world has noticed.

With Trudeau flying his jet to Tofino regularly for vacations, even during Truth and Reconciliation Day, indeed the world has noticed.

This Island desperately needs better infrastructure to handle all of the demand.

Maybe JT just needs to find a new favourite place to visit. Surely his fans will follow him anywhere. I imagine there is resort space available on the north coast of the Black Sea.

We found Tofino to be rather a disappointment in many ways. We wont be back. Qualicum beach has more charm.

Qualicum is nice, for sure.

Tofino is unrecognizable now. Wonderful place, but so, so busy in summers. Even in the off seasons it’s busy.

I love the beach/ocean/waves. Not sure I'd go if it wasn't for that.

You can take the Coho to the Olympic peninsula and find any number of beaches just like Tofino’s, or better for surf and waves. You can even drive onto some of them. Park your camper van for a few nights. Way more fun than stiff, expensive, over-protected Tofino.

Ucluelet has some great waterfront/waves, but it doesn't really seem to have been "discovered" - at least not like Tofino.

Pack some groceries and rent a weekend at PNP or Fossil Bay. Skip all the cocktail restaurants in Tofino.

For a room? Yeah sure but then you don’t have to go anywhere once there, or drive across the island.

A Tofino-area First Nation wants popular Mackenzie Beach to return to its Indigenous name: Tinwis.

In the language of the Tla-o-qui-aht Nation, “tin” means “calm” and “wis” means “beach.” Together, they mean “calm waters.”
