Beacon Books in Sidney has been leased to Refire Kitchen. This has been cross posted in the food services thread.

Never heard of Refire. Anyone used them? Are they competitive to the big brands like Hello Fresh and Chefs Plate (I'm assuming thats who they compete with).

I think refire offers complete ready to heat and eat meals, which is different.

Sure looks good, good timing for this business concept. It’s the sweet spot between a meal kit like hello fresh and straight up takeout vis door dash etc.

People don’t have time to shop and cook anymore because they are working so much to afford takeout.

I’m not any better. Working so much I need to hire someone to prune my fruit trees. I’m likely paying more per hour than I make at work!

lol.

We get these takeout orders that are well into the hundreds and of course we know the people, often trades workers who put in the extra couple hours every day, but those extra couple hours go to me because they are so wiped by the end of the day, they don't want to do anything but eat and relax so they order $150 worth of takeout for the family.

$22-25 average for a meal, then add ons, the tax and finally, of course, a tip. $30 a head is easy at dinner time.

They have an outlet on Fort St and have been there a while. I am sure the food is good but it is also expensive.

The prices don't seem outrageous. but I'm not sure how big they consider a portion. The menu isn't huge.

^ The last time I checked a year or two ago what they called a portion for 1-2 people would have been 1 meal for me.

As per SDWright’s post elsewhere, a Value Village Boutique is coming to Colwood Corners.

Oh dang. I guess that’s why JD Sports is opening.

Trees Cannabis adjacent to the Alpha Street Starbucks has closed.

My understanding is that Foot Locker got forced out, because JD sports was coming in, and SportChek has a limit to how many shoes can be in the mall in the terms of there lease.

I know Footlocker and Champs are under the same tree, so im assuming some of the staff might have moved over.
