Anyone who wants to trade their James Bay house for my condo, feel free to PM me.

My road is never closed, except for about 15 minutes for the Christmas Truck Light Parade.

Failing that, maybe James Bay will break free from the rest of the region in a megathrust quake.

Done.

00:57:41

Bah, not surprising, glad to be under 1hr, maybe thought I could have done better. I might not have prepped right, not sure what I should have eaten/drank and when, prior to the run.

I liked the live music stations along the way, I'm sure some neighbours didn't (Regents Park got some great and loud June Fiasco).

Congrats on completing the race upright! I couldn't have done it.

Maybe it was all the lobster that slowed you down?

The lunatic fringe in James Bay were their usual nutty selves to complain about the race being held in their neighbourhood. The new route "disturbs" as many of the residents of Fairfield as it does JB, so I am not sure the latter group is singled out in any way. In any case, all the roads seemed to be re-opened by 11:00 so I don't see what the big kerfuffle was about. But that's James Bay-ers for you; they don't seem to be happy unless they are able to complain about something.*

* a variant perhaps on the Air Canada moto: We're not happy 'til you're not happy.

The race has to be a loop, you can't make it a straight line, although that would be the only way to alleviate delays and road closures. And you can't make it several tight loops, or you really lock in a neighbourhood.

Except.... Dare I say it, but a few laps of Beacon Hill Park would work after you ice the "Friends of BHP". :muching_out:

It's also a myth that James Bay is somehow the only place that hosts races. Folks seem unaware of the Oak Bay Half Marathon, the Bazan Bay 5k, The Prairie Inn 8k, etc...

and 1:01:58 for me; over 4 minutes slower than last year. It is almost like getting older and fatter has an adverse affect on running speed...

Well, I thought it went smoothly. The clapping throngs were manageable and I was actually able to get my car out of the area without difficulty @ around 9:15 am.

I will however complain about the street sweepers that were deployed right outside my bedroom window @ 4:00 am!

Do we really need to send trucks out in the middle of the freaking night?

I don't complain all that much but there are more than just races that clog our streets (ie Canada Day Fireworks, Victoria Day Parade, cruise buses/carriages etc). It does start to feel like every other weekend we are being asked to put up with something.

For me it actually makes the neighbourhood interesting but you cannot compare the amount of disruptions anywhere else in the city to what we deal with in James Bay.

They powerwash bus stops outside my window at 2 am. Every place has its annoyances. And that happens more than once a year.

I think you want them there when there are the least amount of cars parked curbside. So midnight to 7am is best.

You could always move to the suburbs if the hustle and bustle of the urban core isn't to your liking. You wouldn't be the first.

Totally did not read what I wrote did you?

I said I think these events make life in James Bay interesting. As in, a good thing even when the annoyances are taken into account.

Using "but" as a conjunction here followed by "amount of disruptions...deal with in James Bay" kinda negated the positive aspect that mention before it, don't you think? That's how I read it.

TC10K in the news. A blind runner was denied permission to start with the wheelchairs, taking TC10K to the human rights tribunal.
