Went to it once, it got way too spread out, they need a lot tighter choreography.

i went yesterday for almost 6 hours. it just seemed like normal cars and trucks. decorations were a bit weak. but driving faster than most recent parades. and two-way that must be new this year. no marching bands at all, unless they came after I left. no daisy the cow. and it seemed that it was never going to end.

The 123rd Thrifty Foods Victoria Day Parade will have a “That ’70s Parade” theme, with participants encouraged to consider the decade of disco when they prepare their entries.
Leading the procession at the 9 a.m. start on Monday will be Sidney town crier Kenny Podmore, but before he sets out, the Douglas Mile running race is back beginning at 8:45 a.m.
The run, which is being held in support of Parkinson Wellness Projects, will see athletes head from Douglas and Burnside to the finish line at Douglas and Pandora. The run was first held in conjunction with the parade in 2019, and again last year.
Also prior to the parade will be an 8:57 a.m. flypast featuring the 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron. The flypast will honour the memory of entertainer and magician Paul Kilshaw, who died in April.
Parade organizer Kelly Kurta of the Greater Victoria Festival Society said there are 85 entries, up from 65 in 2022.
“There’s a really good mix this year,” she said.

Damn. That means that the choppers will be out of commission for a week afterwards for maintenance and repairs!

^They hope it will be a flypast and not an autorotation into the crowd.

The parade is a higher priority than usual, members of council say

“Literally thousands of American high school students and their staff and their parents come to Victoria,” said Coun. Jeremy Caradonna.
Elbows up, why allow US participation? Most Americans voted for Trump.

Anyways, why would we ban them? That is a knee jerk reaction.

We should ban Americans from our parade. Elbow up them out big time. They are certainty not welcome.
They are the enemy.
No?
**** the USA.

Methinks at this point the only logical outcome would be for everyone in the world to remain inside a 2-mile-diameter circle and only consume what can be grown or manufactured within that space.

He’s joking around in light of the hypocrisy.
Also, any Canadian who spends time in the US is now a traitor.
Fair that. It is funny how EVERYONE who says they are going to the US these days prefaces the comment with " I booked it before ... "
Having said that, I don't see how punishing US teenagers by not allowing them to attend the parade accomplishing anything. If anything, I see US high schools deciding not to attend on their own due to the risk that a student gets detained on the return to the US.
