I suppose burning the former Tally Ho down might be faster than deconstructing it for the redevelopment proposal.

Despite the immediate rush to judgment here, apparently the story is a mobility scooter exploded inside a unit, caused by a battery malfunction. No injuries.

Hmm. TC says that one person was transported to hospital with injuries. Perhaps two explosions?!

Weird. Here’s CFAX:

“The man who lives inside the upper-level apartment was not inside at the time of the explosion. His two small dogs were inside the unit but were unharmed.

Firefighters say luckily no one was injured.”

Now that was fast. Menzies and Michigan streets, it looks like. It certainly helped to have a fire hall literally down the road.

Victoria fire crews say they’ve turned “a corner” after battling a structure fire in the 200-block of Robert Street for several hours late Tuesday night.

Deputy Chief Dan Atkison says the only person in the heritage home at the time of the blaze was able to make it out safely.

Sad, that was a beautiful (albeit somewhat neglected) home.

Clearly we have too many VV cameras pointed in one direction. Gary! We need coverage to the west!

You can start always start a GoFundMe page so I can purchase a west facing condo.  Better yet, I think the penthouse is still for sale.   :D

Seriously, there were 6 fire trucks, including the supervisor suv, dispatched from downtown all blaring their sirens in a convoy along Esquimalt Rd.  It was a "shock and awe" response.
