I was working that night, great view of the show.  The fire crews launched from the Marina, lots of action for sleepy Oak Bay Marina.

The best fireworks display was when they accidently set Jimmy Chicken Island by the Oak Bay Marina on fire.

Think that happened at least twice... good times. Thought that's was why the Municipality Of Oak Bay stopped supplying the fireworks, but a year or two later when the Oak Bay Beach Hotel supplied the fireworks the fire department and city supported it. Think if it's done right that won't happen/shouldn't again.

Too hot for "tea" this weekend for me, but it would appear many others had a great time.  :)

I think that's an offensive term, but the Carnies got a lot sharper when they switch to Shooting Star Amusement, for instance when they get a cut they use band aids instead of electrical tape.

Remember when West Coast Amusements was still operating the midway, went on the Sky Master(equivalent to the Kamikaze) my harness didn't lock until we got halfway in the air, and by the time it did lock the harness was pushed way out in front of me, so I had to hold on tight with my hands and feet and pray, worked out in the end however. Couple years later when I got some nerve in me to go on it again it had a strap and buckle added as a fail safe.

They really need to bring back the fireworks .......

........... The Oak Bay Tea Party plans to celebrate 55 years with fireworks this June and sought some special compensation from Oak Bay, which waived the costs associated with permits. .........

....... Mayor Nils Jensen admitted during the 2006 centennial celebrations fireworks, but heard later it was a good environmental accident. Those set off in 2012 had no incident. ............

Something seems to be missing from a sentence or two there...

.....Oak Bay Fire Chief Dave Cockle also noted the fire department would water down the area ahead of the event and have firefighting capabilities on the Island at the ready. .........

Admitted what?  And what accident?

With everyone biking to the fireworks there shouldn't be an issue finding parking, right? :)

Was busy this afternoon with tons of bikes. Including ours! The wife wanted to drive and I said no way! I was right. That's OK, you only missed ten dollar lemonade and burning $5 dollar bills for cheap stuffies....
