The Tyee has an interesting series on the False Creek South neighbourhood of Vancouver. clicky
The neighbourhood was created in the 1970s and is considered to be a successful urban design.
The leaseholds on the properties are running out, though: some will end in only 9 years, but most have about 22 years to go. At mls.ca, there are a number of the properties, all with asking prices around the freehold value, I could be missing something, but I just can't see a 22 year leasehold being worth more than perhaps half the freehold value.
I don't know of any other comparable leaseholds that have ended, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
