I/m sorry to say this but I am really turned off by the way the roofline is finished.  All that money spent and this is the best finish they could arrive at?  Buyers should get together and force a change.

I quite like the vertical line detailing.

I really like how this building turned out ... yet another project Ben voted against, but got built anyways and will now supply much needed housing.

You said it so well that I could find no way to improve it.

So I made it my own.

I am sure we could copy and paste it into any project ... has Ben ever voted Yes on any development?

He supports taxpayer funded projects, but I’m not sure if all of them.

The penthouse level looks awful. I'm hoping that it's better in person...it looked fine in the rendering so not sure what happened there...Customs-House-rendering.jpg

I admit I'm not exactly sure what issue we're raising here. Are we saying the vertical lines along the roofline are too visible as compared to the renderings?

Or maybe we don't like the way that roofline cladding overhangs a bit? In the rendering it seemed flush or maybe even a bit back, whereas in reality it's a bit forward?

I just noticed, that same material is present along the ceilings of the balconies, but the renderings don't seem to show it there.

Wow, way back on page 16 of this thread an astute forumer asked a question that might have hinted at the potential for controversy:

I think that's the best image that I've seen of this one. It looks good. I like how the windows on the second floor are differentiated so as to suggest the upper portion of a very tall ground floor (the sort of ground floor that a grand historic building would have). Does anybody know what the silver/grey cladding would be on the very top floor?

Yes, I suppose that's the issue. The cladding material looks cheap.

This re-construction of a heritage building has also proven to be a disaster in Yaletown, Vancouver. Similar kind of metal cladding.

For the design of the lower levels of this project I wonder if they took some inspiration from the long lost Spencer's store further up Government? Looks like they might have. Victoria has so many fine lost buildings, these sorts of callbacks should be happening more often:

Unlikely because of the renderings (unless they depict the year after completion) but it would be nice if that metal roof cladding was made of material that will develop a natural green patina over the time, like this building at Vancouver and Fort. Or perhaps they can chemically treat it to get the same effect.
