It looks amazing. It really makes this into a park like area. A great improvement I must say.
Agreed, my first reaction was postive. It really opens the area up. Once the bus depot is gone, it will look even better.

Sounds alright. I have not paid a fee to roller-skate since about 1979 or 1980 at Oak Bay Rec Centre. Good times.
In fact a standard song was Cars, "Let the Good Times Roll" during the sessions.
I see it's from 1978:

it will still make a good background for wedding photos.
Not so much anymore. They tore down the rose trellis. Now we have a spectacular view of the bus station.

Are the trees in front gone as well now? I'm surprised to see that change without significant gnashing of teeth...

^ Let them go buy their own hotel. Change is good. There is nothing as constant as change.

^ I know it's hard to get over. One of the trees was sick and the owners have a different plan.

They were trees, not people. New trees (and other landscaping) will replace them and in time no one will even remember the old ones. Why is change so feared in this city?

Ya, not sure why the changes are not welcomed. Like Sparky says, everyone can go buy their own hotel if they want.

One of them was apparently sick. The other two were just fine.

One could say the same to people resisting to a different bridge, the road closures to BHP, etc. But those are bad changes so it doesn't count, right?
