Ok, so who bought, paid for and installed the "Welcome to Greater Victoria" signs, and who decided where to stick them?

Swimming at Dallas Road eh!

The media should do an exit poll to find out how many people REALLY think we need sewage treatment.

Tread water over the sewage epicenter it's just like one big vaccination

Those signs have been in place over 2 decades not sure who owns them. The one View Royal should be out at Ice Cream Mtn and the Royal Oak one should be at Wain Rd

Greater Victoria and the Census Metropolitan Are are two different things. I believe the term Greater Victoria literally refers to contiguous urban area which ends in Royal Oak and View Royal (at least it did). What Sidney belongs to is "metropolitan Victoria." I realize we're splitting hairs but the term Greater Victoria does refer to something specific.

Splitting more hairs yet. I grew up here and never considered Royal Oak as the north end...

Here is yet a better explanation, which includes Sidney:

Will Mr. Floatie show up?

legend states if you tread water for three minutes over the outfall saying "there's no place for the sewage treatment plant" he will appear.

Why don't they just move it to the ocean?

Why does it even need to be organized?  Just go do it wherever, it only lasts 15 seconds anyway.

We don't have Polar Bears around here but we do have Sea Lions, Beavers and Humpback Whales, so I think we need to be more creative in our advertising approach.

My daughter and I did the Sidney Polar Bear Swim about five years ago. It was a day much like today. It wasn't bad. I was used to going in the ocean from April to around Thanksgiving so had a bit of resistance built up.

Did my first polar bear swim yesterday in the Georgia Strait. It wasn’t too bad, but lemme tell ya, if I didn’t have a fire nearby I’d have been hurting right quick.

The interesting thing is I was zonked by that swim. Fell asleep like a rock later that night.

I didn't feel bad after mine. I stood around for quite a while in bikini top and jeans.
