Of course it’s also what they said they would NOT use smart metering for. When we all knew it would be.

I don't think that's true. They've always said that one of the key benefits of smart meters is allowing for conservation time periods.

"Smart meters capture information that will enable BC Hydro to design new rate structures that encourage conservation during peak periods, such as voluntary time-of-use. The design of these rates will involve consultation with customers and will be subject to review and approval by the BC Utilities Commission."

Thats from 2010.

All the pushback on smart meters was dumb. It was all around two main things - radio frequencies being harmful for health, and the smart meters being an invasion of privacy, potentially.

2011:

A BC Hydro official says its already controversial smart meters could one day be used for time-of-day pricing – a policy that has been blamed for consumer prices soaring in jurisdictions such as Ontario – but the province's Energy Minister is emphatically rebutting the idea.

"I've said it clearly: We're not going to time of use. If [BC Hydro officials]don't have that message, they're going to get it," Rich Coleman said Tuesday within an hour of the idea being raised by a hydro executive during a seminar at the annual convention of the Union of B.C. Municipalities.

The new mega battery laden EV Silverado gets over 200 miles towing 7,600 lbs (I think it was?) on flat highways. That’s not bad!

The politician (limited term) says one thing, the actual utility says another, in official documentation, not at some press conference.

The wholly owned (by the BC government) crown corporation says one thing.

Politicians come and go. They can't promise anything in perpetuity, nevermind that they break promises all the time anyways.

They are good at promising the same thing over and over and never delivering tho.

Stte C when fully operational can handle about 1 million cars. Wer will be converting about triple that in the next ten years. Add all the new housing being built which is all electric then one really has to ask were all the power is going to come from?

I have some fanciful equations for the electric car fleet and I have seen the same equations used for new housing demand. What I have never seen is any thing that couvers both cars and new housing at the same time.

We need a lot more damns and new transmission lines and that means much higher hydro costs moving forward.

In BC the fleet turns over in about 20 years. So you are 100% off to start.

There probably won't be any new dams built in the near future, but watch for small nuclear reactors to come to a neighbourhood near you.

The legacy automakers don't need to build drive-throughs, the private market does it for them.

GM is going to make massive inroads if its latest EVs can hack it. Build quality is another matter, and something Ford is struggling with, but then I rode in a Tesla the other day that was creaking and croaking like a stuck pig, noises made so much worse because it's so quiet inside the cabin.

Anyone been following the Model S Plaid saga? Owners are having to replace tires at 5,000 mile intervals to avoid blow-outs. Tires are wearing too fast because of the camber.

^ it’s rare. But the vehicle torque is so strong - if you drive it to the extreme - the rims practically tear away at the tires trying to catch up.

Model S Plaid owners are very rich. No need to weep for them over tires.

Sounds like another issue. The issue being described in the video I watched, was the camber is wearing tires away on the inside, and drivers can't easily see the damage so assume their tires are in good shape, based solely on the outside (right) of the rubber.

Nope. Guy in the YouTube video I watched says he doesn't race or drive crazy. He's already replaced tires four times, and the guidance is new rubber every 5,000 miles now, because of the wear and the danger it presents. It's a huge deal.

Teslarati and the other fanboy "news" sources aren't talking about it? Shocker.

He “says” he doesn’t drive crazy. Show the receipts.
