The panes are much larger.

If it wasn’t a big deal to replace the historic wooden panes with plastic ones the practice would be permitted, just like using modern paint is permitted, or adding fiberglas insulation is permitted.

I think you're referring to the window stile or rail (basically the frame of the glass). The pane is the glass itself, and that has not gotten any bigger.

So we should redo the windows ON THE THIRD FLOOR because there is a difference of an inch or so around the frame?!!??!

It is funny that a developer that might break even on a complex heritage restoration would be roasted for doing this but when the bottomless coffers of the Provincial government are involved it's barely a slap on the wrist.

The bigger question is: Was Mount Edwards really the best choice for the Province to purchase as low barrier housing?
